At least they addressed that. CX-30 uses the controller even in CarPlay mode.

i don't think kia has anything to worry about from this cx-90 and no doubt a new telluride is coming soon as it's been out for years now.

i think this cx-90, while nice, will sell in tiny numbers.

In person it doesn't look slab sided or hunchbacked, it really looks great in person.

Not gonna happen

In person the proportions look much better. The interior isn't cramped at all, its just not class leading. Its bigger inside than a Highlander or an MDX or an Explorer or a Pathfinder or a QX60 as a comparison. This vehicle is for someone who the RWD platform, taut handling and the inline 6 have a lot of value. It drives more like a BMW than an X7 does quite frankly. Its actually a little firm and handling focused for me.

Comparatively so sure, but its still a great effort aimed at enthusiasts and we gotta thank Mazda for that

I really like these. I could easily see myself picking this if we were in the market right now.

Would be a great successor to your Highlander in the PHEV trim given you're a car enthusiast who will appreciate it

This is a good mini review. I've only seen these from far away but will be checking them out.

Question. How long do you spend on these test drives? From walking into dealer to walking out excluding the driving portion. I feel like places we stop by, we end up sitting with the salesperson too long.

It depends on the dealer. Its usually pretty quick. In fact a lot of them just let me go on my own which I prefer. Some make you meet the manager, etc...

I have found luxury dealers are less regimented in their sales process.

Some pictures. This is a pretty high spec but not loaded Turbo S model with an MSRP of $57k:

Not sure if what I'm talking about will come out in this picture, but the sides flare out as you do down the side

Inside, the vehicle is very nice, definitely tighter than the Telluride, even tighter than the Aviator to be quite honest. Disqualifier for me is the second row captains chairs are too close together for my dog to walk from the third row between them to the front. In the Aviator and the Telluride they are further apart...

Ride and drive, the vehicle is quite taut. The Telluride and the Aviator are both softer, the CX-90 definitely feels more dynamic and engaging, engine note is much stronger. The inline 6 is super smooth and powerful, and the one I drove was not the S model but the lower powered model. The engine in the Telluride while also being very smooth and refined felt lethargic at times in comparison.

All in all, if my wife for some reason absolutely loved this, I would be very happy with it, but it doesn't seem like the right vehicle for us. Overall, very well done though and someone who wants a dynamic engaging vehicle but needs a 3 row, this is a great option...
Thats a great price for this SUV - need to check one out.
Mazdas typically have very poor lease programs though which prevents them from being volume sellers.

As a BMW fan - i need to find new brand fast. We have a new X3 m40i on the way which should last us 3 more years. I kind of regret ordering it a little bit because it’s exactly what we have now, even ordered same color. Really not much out there that’s better for the money. The new gen BMWs are not my thing.

This thing has a shifter, physical buttons and no giant Ipad screen so already a big win Lol

I even commented it drives more like a BMW than an X7!

Audi's gonna keep the low-riding family sector quite happy with the A/S5 Avant coming to the states next year, followed by the RS 5 Avant

Got to drive this along with a number of other vehicles this week (including an Alpina XB7, Grand Cherokee 4XE, Bronco Raptor etc, will try to get quick spin write ups done soon).

Not sure if this is specific to the PHEV, but the ride and handling was borderline terrible. Quite shocking for a Mazda product. Larger bumps and mid corner events crashed through to the cabin and up through the steering wheel. Almost as if the chassis was not properly set up to accommodate the added weight of the PHEV. Power from the PHEV was quite smooth and well done, but the ride was a deal breaker.

^^^ and that's the kind of reasons why a bmw for example, for more money is worth it.
