Default 2024 Mazda CX-90

Debuting in January 2023 as a 2024 MY. Very, very limited info so far, but here is Mazda's press release.

https://news.mazdausa.com/2022-11-15...int#assets_all

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations previews the first-ever 2024 CX-90, set to make its world debut in January 2023. The three-row CX-90 is built on Mazda's all-new large platform and represents the company's newest flagship vehicle with wider, longer, and more aggressive proportions than any current Mazda vehicle.

The CX-90 continues Mazda's Kodo Design philosophy of infusing life into the body of the vehicle through passion and precision. It's bold, dynamic design, and craftsmanship are highlighted by an all-new premium paint color option with this first, large platform introduction of Artisan Red. This sophisticated, yet deeply saturated color has been specifically developed to suit large platform vehicles to accentuate its blend of high-performance appearance and world-class refinement.
And here is the CX-90 landing page on mazdausa.com.

Looks like it will come with an inline 6 powerplant, a new red (and Mazda does red VERY well), body coloured fender trim, and fake fender vents. The current CX-9 is already wide and long, so I'm not sure how to feel about that. No technical info on HP/TQ, fuel economy, or hybrid/PHEV powertrain options yet, but with a debut scheduled for January, more info should be coming soon.

Hopefully it has more HP than early reports, which were disappointing to say the least.

Very bummed they cancelled the planned LA Auto Show debut and moved it to early 2023. Was looking forward to seeing it in person this week.

Exciting to see Mazda do this. I recently saw the new CX-50 SUV and Mazda killed it on the styling..looks great. I think this will look just as good. I have this strange feeling that Toyota will be using this Inline 6 in their next gen 4R and Lexus GX

I would like that, but I highly doubt it. T24 is going to be the standard powertrain for the Taco/4R (and I assume the hybrid version for the TRD Pros), while the GX will prob used the detuned V35. I too would like to see Toyota used the i6, but they *do* have their own engines they've invested in for BoF use.

That would be a tremendous disappointment if the 4Runner uses the 2.4T. I think it would be a win win for Mazda to share the engine. I think both would benefit. But I really like the looks their latest crossovers. They look sharp

We already have photos of it in camo.

If the turbo six cylinder isn't beefed up from the initial reports for the CX-60, this will be a laughingstock.

New press release today. Short blurb with a new picture. "Plug-in Hybrid Tuned Specifically for North America"

I already can tell it's going to be ugly from that taillight and rear quarter panel, the spy shots had already confirmed to me how bloated/round the rear will look. Unfortunately won't be a looker like the CX-60 I think, which I personally REALLY love. Maybe the CX-70... we'll see.

Exciting. I think the inline 6 direction is great idea and will be quite unique

If they fix the interior space then it will compete. I looked at the current model and it's very tight inside, especially the third row.

I LOVE the CX-9, but its underpowered and too small inside for me. Beautiful though. Excited to see this...

I'm not sure about that...

Yes

I'm not sure what happened to the Mazda arrangement, but from CX-60 development information I've learned that they were indeed developing a RWD sedan in parallel to the CX-60. CX-60 was designed quite a long time ago, originally expected in 2021. They were choosing final designs back in 2018 for it! I base this on a final design review dated and photographed internally from December 1, 2018!
