It's just because I started with a 6L engine that 4ish L engines feel small to me. If you started with more mainstream V8s or V6s then yeah I'm sure they all feel fine.
...if only they made the TX as powerful, or at least adequately powerful in EV-only mode... Still, the old eCVT + a fixed-atkinson V6, so at least that's settled. Not sure why they went with the regular turbo + 6spd for the rest of their newer hybrids when all the system needed was more electric torque fill - which just so happens to synergize well with bigger PHEV batteries.
@SW17LS Good timing for this post as I'm about to buy tire dressing; can't find my Chemical Guys VRP in the garage and was just gonna order more of that until seeing this post. Curious on 2 things:
- have you ever tried VRP? If so, how do you think the Meguiar's compares to that for shine level? I've been pretty happy with that in the past.
- do you just spray the Meguiar's on and leave it or do you use some type of applicator to put it on so it's an even amount? After you posted this I researched it and sounds like people are split on how they apply this. Some folks saying if you spray and leave it on it provides a better shine.
Thx!

Good timing indeed, I just ran out of the tire dressing I was using for years and will try something new but wasn't sure what to try. I was just going to go to Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts since they are very close by but may consider ordering online. Do you like Chemical Guys? I may consider ordering online too.
How does an engine "feel small"?! The 4L TTV8 in my S560 feels effortless at all speeds, even the lower HP 4 and 4.3 and 4.6s I had in my LSs felt great. Not sure how an engine can "feel bigger"....I havent owned a car with a big displacement V8 but I have driven plenty of them. I can feel that these big V8s in the GM trucks are freer revving, but without a turbocharger they still need to be driven hard to get the power out of them.

I spray it on a tire shine applicator, I hate the overspray of spraying it directly on the tire. No need to wipe it down afterwards either, tires are perfect every time. Here is the applicator I use:
Well, Motor Trend and I disagree...

I have tried VRP, I don't care for it. I like dark and glossy tires, the VRP is a little dull for me, looks more like the tires on the Pacifica I posted above. I also however hate dressings that sling, so its hard to find that combination. Solvent type dressings have a great look, but they sling like hell and attract dust and grime. This is the best water based dressing I have used, followed very closely by CarPro Perl.

It's cool bc the dude isn't going anywhere and neither am I, this isn't an emergency. He knows we have a deal and that it'll take a minute for me to come get it and figure it out etc.

i agree it's basically a non issue when you literally have to go out of your way to highlight the "shortcomings" but from an enthusiasts POV that brief lag between putting your foot down is very noticeable
and the V8s in your LS's didn't "feel small" because they are high compression and have a torque curve that starts out high at idle and progressively increases, whereas a turbo engine starts off with basically nothing and then suddenly comes to life
drive a 2.0T mercedes and below 2000 rpm they are slugs... if you manually lock the car into a higher gear and put your foot down in your S560 it'll also feel slow until like 2000 rpm when the turbos fully get going

Modern turbos are great though, if you always use average throttle application they are perfect
Big difference in FI vs NA to me personally. I've said this before but you can't catch a great NA engine off guard (like the GM 6.2). I caught that EB snoozing way too much for a $75,000 truck's powertrain.
This. You can't compare a truck to a car, go try a car with a NA V8 and you will feel the difference between a smaller and larger engine easily. Boost threshold is a very real thing with turbos that supered or large engines just don't have to deal with.

S mode is usually enough for Audis to keep them feeling good but then you are stuck with high rpm all the time and it still doesn't react as aggressively with the shifting vs an actual tune.
I did that when I had that Ecoboost F-150 with 500ft/lbs to test it, it was slowwwwwwwwwww.

just for context, this is a high compression 6.1 liter 630 hp V12 with nearly 500 ft lbs in a car that weighs less than a 3rd gen miata (engine included!!) and sat 3 comfortably! i can only go based on what others have said lol but the throttle response is just off the charts in any gear at any speed
