General Car Conversation
And as you guys can see, actually I was on pebbles/rocks.
I was impressed with the all season Michelins. I just took it slow. The owner/my relative just bought a new Gladiator with actual off road tires and is driving down there with me next time haha.
Love it!!!

The 6.0's can be made reliable with a lot of mods.
There is no saving the 6.4. Pistons crack, rocker arms break. It's a 100k mile engine and then throw it away. It was a cynical attempt by Navistar to do the bare minimum to fulfill the rest of their contract with Ford, knowing that Ford was already developing the 6.7 in house.

Fire ring the heads and block
Replace the pistons/rods
Replace the rockers and pushrods with aftermarket
Replace the factory oil separator system with a multi stage unit from MANN
Replace the turbos
Remove EGR/DPF
Have the crank fully blueprinted and coated
Have the block resurfaced with a TQ plate and refinished
Replace the head bolts with ARP studs
Replace the factory sealing strategy entirely with the fire ring setup
And anything else I'm forgetting....
Just a "small list of things" and you have a 6.4 that actually works lol! He is currently doing another one for a customer, I think it's the 4th one he's done at this point. They do work after that though, should have been that way factory though. The 6.7 is far better and requires much less past deletes to work correctly

The Dodge Cummins Turbo diesel was a hit and the old Ford Powerstrokes were good too.
Not 100k mile throw aways. Lol
Oh you can fix a 6.4.....

That's serious stuff.
But, he's getting big power out of it.
The cost and time, good golly. Lol
I can't do ANYTHING. You're not alone. Partly just because I'm not good at it and I have no patience because I can be really A.D.D. sometimes.
That is really sad.

Wow, one hell of a list that best not be attempted by a rookie. Lol

My Dad and my brother taught me to do basic stuff. I did my own oil changes for a while until I was close to 40. I got tired of the floor jack, jack stands, and crawling under the car to pull the oil plug. If I get a flat, I can deal with it. I just don’t want to.
