Try a Q7? They drive very very well and are nicer than the Atlas, get the 3.0T and buy the term matching tune for it via APR. You keep your factory warranty that way and get to enjoy a much better calibration

I get them as rentals every now and then. The updated version out now has only one engine choice, the 2.0t I4. It's huge inside and drives OK, but really nothing stands out to me other than its attractive styling. I find everything about the Palisade/Telluride to be better outside of space.
The refreshed Atlas is already on the roads and filling dealer lots. I had the 2022 as a work car for a while. It was decent. Some nice items like wireless CarPlay even then, although wireless charging positioning was hit/miss like almost every car today. Did like that you could get captain's chairs, and that the captains chairs did the pivot and slide to allow car seats to remain installed and still give access to the 3rd row. Most of the features are there except passenger seat still doesn't get lumbar controls.
Do have to go to the top of the trim line for things like 360 cam etc (not sure if that's fundamentally changed with the refresh but likely not). We had the V6 (not available anymore).
Actually, here's a summary of my experience with the 2022 Atlas: Carsplain Write up.
Not sure how much has changed with the updated ones, will have to try to get some time in one.

Fair, I just figured I would suggest it so you have a more special vehicle. A lot of the other families in my neighborhood have Atlases including my next door neighbors, they almost universally were minivan replacements.
The Kia/Hyundai pair have some presence as well but not all that common unless you go to cheaper areas where they then seem to be everywhere

New Atlas is HUGE upgrade over the old one especially in the interior. Only thing I don’t like is the 2.0T
. Heated and Ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, rain sensing wipers standard on all trim levels, most manufactures make you get the very top trim level to get those features!

I actually really like it. Very basic, but it has CarPlay and feels zippy and handles well...I had to pick my kids up from camp and take them to a doctors appointment and they needed lunch on the way, they destroyed it in the backseat so bad I actually took it and got it washed lol. No cupholders in the back seat!
the atlas seems like a bargain for someone wanting a large suv.
i don't know about the upgrade, but now i'm going to look into it.
vw of course has struggled forever in the u.s. market, just not quite nailing the packages for u.s. consumers.

here i see palisades and tellurides in 7 figure neighborhoods along with mercedes, bmw, etc.
Lets put it this way, we just spent a little over a week at the beach. Two of us, my mom and our 8 year old twins. We drove both cars, and the van was completely full with the third row and one of the captains chairs stowed, my trunk and backseat behind me were completely full. We need the space lol

Maybe the best solution is your S560 and a 16' U-Haul.
Generally I see more H/K vehicles closer to the city and here it is Genesis instead if an H/K product is to be found. That or cars for the high schoolers
