remove it. Weld in some new rooftop steal. Your car will be lighter. Can go faster. It’s like a tune but not a tune if you know what I mean

I had a sunroof in my 2015 Porsche 911 (991). It sat on the lot forever because everyone wanted wanted a glass roof. You can still get one on the 992 too.

Uh no.....my roof is glass and the metal is aluminum so that wouldn't even work if I wanted to. I just won't use it to avoid issues

That's cheating! lol

It’s the Aston Martin DBX, which uses a Mercedes twin turbo v8.

Yeah the way you said you will reveal later seemed pretty obvious it wasn’t cost, leaking, etc. and more of a positive thing like you are getting a convertible. That’s what my guess is, maybe a C8 or LC vert!

As for moonroofs/sunroofs I had no idea of the difference, learn something new every day. With that being said I rarely/never use my moonroofs even though for whatever reason I always feel compelled to get them.

Fair enough. But you should be using your sunroof all year round - until it downpours!

Saw a Lyriq in the wild yesterday. I really like it - I considered waiting on this to come out with the more powerful setup but couldn't pass up the deal I got on the Model Y. Much prefer the styling of the Lyriq over the Model Y - but EV's are not just about styling. Tesla still has too many advantages for me to seriously consider anyone else at this stage.

I've always (loosely) used the terms the opposite as described here. To me, the moonroof was the solid panel, not glass, with my thinking that a moonroof is dark and that a sunroof lets sun in. I know, at least for the glass panels, that Toyota refers to them as sunroofs, as noted on my window sticker for the Highlander ("Panoramic Sunroof") and my Tundra ("Sunroof").

Not sure it really matters though.

At some points I was wondering if there's a difference between the two but never cared enough to look it up. Geko's comment is interesting and he's right. According to wiki...
"A sunroof is a movable panel that opens to uncover a window in an automobile roof, allowing light and fresh air to enter the passenger compartment. Sunroofs can be manually operated or motor driven, and are available in many shapes, sizes and styles. While the term "sunroof" is now used generically to describe any glass panel in the roof, the term "moonroof" was historically used to describe stationary glass panes rigidly mounted in the roof panel over the passenger compartment. A moonroof has a glass panel that is transparent and usually tinted. Previous terms include Sunshine Roof, Sliding Head and Sliding Roof."
But both my glass roofs (one regular, one pano) show as sunroof on my app. Have you seen the panoramic roof from the iX? It doesn't open, it only changes the opacity to allow/limit light/heat into the cabin. So no fresh air through this route. I feel this is the one geko is implying.

The Venza's panoramic roof is like this too. It is fixed so it cannot open, and has the electrochromic dimming. I'd prefer one that opens and has a shade.

You talked me into it! lol
I will try it today.

I'm a little concerned cuz I tested it to see if it still works a couple years ago and it sounded creaky and squeeky, thinking it needs lubed or something.

Looks good, I have to admit.
Even for an EV. lol

Yeah, I'm more confused than ever now.
I'll just call mine a moon roof for now, I'm ok with that.

I'm also kinda surprised some didn't know this. Sunroof is metal, Moonroof is glass. Glass is way better. Weirdly enough in the E38 the 740 was a moonroof and the V12 750iL was a sunroof.

Though hardly anyone calls it a "moonroof" that I've ever known and just says "sunroof" including me.

I love my sunroof. In the LS it's extra large.

My father's old 750iL definitely had glass, although I've seen plenty with the steel sunroof. I checked just to make sure I wasn't going crazy and this 750il has glass too: 2000 BMW 750iL for sale on BaT Auctions - sold for $16,900 on January 11, 2022 (Lot #63,238) | Bring a Trailer

Steel sunroof must have been a thing with the early '95-'96 models.

Who wouldn't want glass there? In any car it makes it more luxurious, let alone V12 BMW.
