Good point...I still just don't find Subarus appealing. I would probably get the Accord Hybrid, or honestly I would go to something like a CX-5.
I drove a Subaru CrossTrek and a Mazda CX-30 back to back. Absolutely no comparison, the Mazda was hands down better in every way. The Honda HRV was painfully slow, but still probably better than the CrossTrek.
Something I find really nice about the Legacy is the interior. It has just enough touchscreen and tech vs just enough hard buttons and speedometer gauges that are traditional.
also, engines are larger displacement at 2.4 and 2.5 which is really nice. A NA option and a turbo. Way better than the Camry
Well, it doesnt have a transmission in the traditional sense
Right. The vast majority of the time, the wheels are driven directly and solely by the electric motor. There is a generator that is directly driven by the engine any time it is running, to provide power for said motor. But the engine only directly powers the wheels at highway speed. When an appropriate cruising speed is reached, a clutch engages direct drive from the engine to the wheels. There is no gearbox or CVT that can vary the effective gear ratio between the engine and the drive wheels. They're either driven at (engine rpm x final drive ratio) or they aren't connected at all.
Kind of an interesting take on a Hybird IMO. Operates much more like a BEV with a range extender (ala BMW i3/i8 or Chevy Volt) than like a typical hybrid. It just lacks a charging port.
LMAO...for 3 times as much money. Yes I know you can buy a used one but we're talking about new cars.
He said midsize sedans no? No price was mentioned.....
Plus why would I ever spend the cost of even the Subaru new on something of that level? Makes no sense when I can spend that much on something far greater/better
Does anyone know where the "canister purge valve" is on a 2013 ES 350? We got a P0456 error from the check engine light & it says to replace this valve. Thanks!
Hi!
you should post this question in the 6ES forum, you can find it here:

I think it’s implied that it would be competitors to the Legacy.
Not everybody wants to buy used cars. I have never bought one and have no interest. Lots of reasons why someone would want a new Legacy or Accord over a used much higher cost to maintain Mercedes.

Oh, well then a previous gen accord 2.0 if there are restrictions. I just went by size class and since I like the E-class that's what I picked

I still can't believe they dropped that. Camry and competitor sales are going to spike. Honda made arguably the sweetest 6 cylinder around, ok kill that fine. Still a little salty.
Cut to Honda dropping in the insanely competent 2.0t that returns 30mpg easy for a 207hp hybrid. Not crazy about 2.0ts as we all know but hell it gave the Accord a mid 5 second 0-60 time and I would imagine Honda's version of a 2.0t would be less unpleasant sounding and feeling than most.
So we now have an Accord with the same power as the 1998 version (7 more), except that one had a very, very silky smooth 3.0 V6.
You’re not a buyer in that segment though. The vast, vast majority of buyers won’t blink an eye at these changes. The hybrid gets 50% better fuel economy, that’s huge and buyers in that segment absolutely care about that

Yep. People of this demographic tend to ask "reliability" "MPG" "it can take regular right?" and interior space in that order usually. Meanwhile people like us ask "what's the range" "can it be optioned with leather headliner" and stuff to that effect.
Different worlds. I've noticed that people react very differently to the various classes of cars, those who can't afford usually badmouth/have irrational disdain for higher end cars right up until they get a job/situation that allows them to afford it or experience one. Then the tone changes really quickly, all of the sudden the "overpriced, unreliable, pointless" cars somehow find their way on their dream car lists or in consideration for purchase. Now the "insane" maintenance and repair costs are "reasonable" for "what you get with a car like this"
I have a swath of customers from the worse/bad side of Columbus and I have seen this play out so many times.....I always stop them though from buying a mistake. There is a minimum price to not be screwed over by a car in a certain class and a $3000 LS460 and $3500 D3 A8 are both great ways to buy a $10k car that you won't be driving for a while. Literally just had two people buy inspections on the above cars this past week, they wisely backed out once they realized that even though me they would be very costly to keep running at spec.

I think you may be surprised. I definitely don't think the "vast, VAST majority" but certainly you're not incorrect either.
Gas is down to somewhat reasonable levels (though still too expensive) levels and will get even cheaper in a year or two.
Accord has always been known as a driver's car underneath the family sedan camo. Now it's neutered with this hybrid crap.
It's not like the old 2.0t got bad MPG. They also ripped the manual transmission away from the 1.6 for a CVT.
