EQS vs. S-Class
I think the S Class looks better...very elegant. If I had to use my own money though, I would pick the EQS. Every review I've seen says the EV powertrain paired with the incredible cabin is like nothing else out there. I would very much like to go test drive one
That was my original opinion as well. But I've had a few chances to see the W223 in person, including once parked next to the W222, and the W223 is noticeable wider and more hunkered down. I think the proportions are near perfect and it comes off as being imposing as hell. The front and back treatments are the weakest of any S-Class to date tho IMO and come straight from an A-Class.
just read the motortrend comparison.
the eqs is quieter, faster, and a lot more cargo room, but the cargo room comes at the expense of rear seat room, although the battery also diminishes rear seat floor to ceiling height, a lot.
but what struck me the most was in comparing the specs... they're incredibly similar.
but specs obviously only tell one side of it, the rest is the radically different design and drive trains.
some here think the w222 is a nicer car than the w223 and that speaks to the impact the w222 design had on the world (huge home run!). the w223 went for the 'softer' and rounded front/rear, the 'ski slope' center stack, and 'sitting on top' main gauge display. i don't think it works that well aesthetically, especially compared to the hyperscreen.
what's amazing though is that m-b has 2 radically different flagships available at the same time. i have no doubt m-b (and its dealers!) doesn't mind if someone hates the eqs and gets an s-class instead.

I would take Sclass 100% of the time.
The new one is everywhere and it just looks like a flagship from a mile away. I saw a black one with AMG sport pack yesterday and it was a perfect combo of sport and elegance. I prefer it over the W222. The interior is not my favorite though.

I'm fully on board with the W223 looking better than the W222 if I have to be honest. I like it way better now.
I'm really trying to have my partner wait until the BMW i7 is unveiled because I don't want another Benz in the garage but an EQS order is looking likely.

Everybody knows how I feel about the subject lol
I have come around to the exterior styling of the W223, but I still much prefer the interior of the W222.
The ride differences come down to weight is my guess. I'd be interested to hear a comparison with an S580 with e-ABC, which is not available on the EQS. I also haven't driven a W223 but I have heard some comments that ride quality is not as good as it was in the W222. My W222 has as nice a ride as any car I have ever had or driven...

The EQS definitely looks modern and efficient

still, i wouldn't mind owning either one over the EQS
