Throttle House's review of the EQS makes a lot of comparisons to the S-Class, and not in a good light. They don't find the EQS has as wafty of a ride, has much more road noise than an S-Class, has horrible brakes and low steering confidence with the ten degree RWS, and echo everyone else's complaint of the rear seats being relatively cramped. They do praise the refinement of the electric powertrain itself though.

Love the jab at the drag coefficient excuse by showcasing it next to the Lucid.

I have heard from owners at MB World that came from W222 S Classes that the ride is firmer...so it seems to be all over the place...

Using 9 sources (C&D, KBB, MT, Edmunds etc.) US News ranks the EQS at the top of Luxury Hybrid and Electric Cars. Very high Critics Rating 10/10.

about the road noise, they were driving on completely unfamiliar california HORRIBLE RUTTED CONCRETE highways. every other review i've seen says the eqs is serenely silent.

the rear seat head room though does inadequate for tall passengers.

but since 99% of the time these big flagship sedans are occupied by exactly 1 person, it won't matter.

wouldn't be surprised if they do a LWB or Maybach version of EQS with more rear space and headroom. plus we all know the eqg or whatever they call a big suv is coming at some point.

for testing road noise, it would make sense to test on noisy road conditions right? testing cars on smooth highway makes it kind of pointless

agreed, but if one is subjectively comparing one car on a very noisy road surface vs other cars on 'regular' surfaces, then it's not very valid.

Yeah you really have to compare them on similar surfaces. For instance my car can go from 59 DB to 65 dB depending on the road surface.

With that said my S Class does a much better job of dampening different road surface noises than my LS did.

I'm really curious to see an interior noise comparison between the refreshed Model S with ANC and the EQS

I feel very strongly that active noise cancellation is not going to bring the noise level down to that of the EQS.

EDIT: As suspected, Youtube videos seem to suggest that the Model S with ANC provides a subtle, not major improvement.

Have you driven or had a ride in either one? From what I've watched online (haven't driven either), the MS is pretty quiet.

The refreshed S without ANC is a dramatic improvement compared to the version I have and mine is already very quiet.

That's why I'm curious how it fares with the "S class of EVs".

Sure have- drove an EQS and S-class back to back over the course of a day. I've been a passenger in my neighbor's Plaid several times over the same roads. The EQS is still on another level, although I will say I agree it's gotten better than earlier Model S models.
