I'm not really ok with 0 percent tax on EV's because it gives an unfair market advantage.
Don’t worry. You know the saying. It is unfair they don’t have to pay the gas tax. Using the roads is using the roads, and most EVs are heavier than the average ICE powered counterpart which puts more wear on said roads.
Uncle Sam is coming for EV owners big time. The fact that it hasn’t really happened yet, that might make me a little anxious if I drove an EV—who the hell knows what they’re cooking up. I mean we all have to pay taxes but…..

Why do we keep having to go through these exercises, again and again? I pay more registration fees for my EV's than my gas cars, basically an EV tax instead of paying taxes at the pump. And I'm sorry, full size pickup trucks are just as heavy or heavier than my cars, so please spare me about destroyed roads LOL
Model Y weight: 4,416 lbs
F-150 weight: between 4,069 and 5,697 lbs

Your LX and Denali both weigh substantially more than an EV. If Uncle Sam wants to go after folks with heavy vehicles, there'd be a lot of pick up trucks and large SUV's in line before EV's. Be careful what you wish for.

So the Lexus LX 570 has a curb weight of 6,000 lbs. There are F150 Lightning configurations that are literally within 15 lbs of that. The base trim Pro has a 6015 curb weigh.
Saw my first one on the road yesterday not too far from where i live. My overall impression from seeing it on the road is that its not as "big' as it appears to be when you're standing right next to it (when i saw it at a Tesla showroom a couple of months ago).
People forget that overall tax burdens will vary by state, but not by nearly as much as people think. If you get a break on one tax, you're taking it in the shorts on another. It has to be that way, the cost of operations in all states are high and the money really only comes from two places (state and local tax collections plus, for those states that are net recipients, inbound federal dollars.
