Doesn't sound too bad for a V6 twin turbo

Oh I agree, it still sounds sort of like a truck. I can't wait to see some legit numbers. I bet the 0-60 is 6 flat or less. Same for Land Cruiser.

LOL at the Layla.

Looks as if this truck is gonna launch before December 2021. The quality on that Limited looks excellent .

it is just the same with Ford. The EcoBoost TT V6 engine upgrade is much better than their standard base V8 (I've owned one, so speak from actual experience).

Yeah I saw all that. If anyone can do hybrid, it's them. But I'm certain the new motor without hybrid is more than potent. But no, that V8 sound and feel won't be there. That really matters to some people. Like I said, it would be this or Denali mostly for the V8 it has if I could have my dream pickup truck. I literally drive my truck around with the radio off or down low a lot of the time and just listen to the engine while driving.

And someone did post a Tundra Limited interior model, stunning!

Overall I really, really like this truck.

It is true that the TT V6 will have more power and more accessible low end grunt. But is it actually better? People who have driven the LS460 and LS500 told me that although the 500 is more torquey, the LS460 still feels better and is more responsive. Downsizing and turbocharging does have it benefits, but driving a downsized turbocharged is still not the same. I've driven the Accord V6 and the Accord 2.0T, which has more power and torque and is faster, but I would take the 3.5L V6 any day over the 2.0T as it is a way better driving car (the Accord NA V6)

Yep, fair points. Everyone has their preferences, and we all like a big smooth normally-aspirated V8. I will say I've never found a Toyota/Lexis V8 (and I've owned them) to be particularly responsive - they are really the polar opposite of that, they are unstressed, smooth and refined, but they are not particularly responsive. They are the epitome of the big lazy V8. For me, the more advanced turbo engines do work better. With a twin scroll/variable geometry turbo, or with a larger and smaller turbo, they don't suffer from lag. And in your example too, I'd likely take the V6 over a smaller turbo four as well, but we're not talking about them here - Lexus/Toyota isn't fitting a stressed four into the Tundra or LC/LX.

Fair points as well. I'm one of those fans of that big lazy NA V8! I'm definitely glad they didn't go with that stressed Four like they did with the new Sienna. Sounds and feels like crap when you have to go hard. And that CVT...ugh

Definitely looking forward to trying one out. I would be interested in the hybrid version. The standard 3.4 TTV6 has pretty much the same power as the V8 but more torque and at lower RPMs. Should be nice as long as they kept the truck's weight in check and that the 10 speed's gears are properly spaced and programmed. The outgoing Tundra also has the very aggressive rear axle ratio (4.30) which kills mileage but is great for low end torque and for towing. I haven't seen if they stated what the new one will have.

I don't think its a big deal, but yeah I do. One thing I have found is that older screen clusters start looking dated because of increases in screen quality, etc

Eh I sorta take back what I said. I have watched that launch repeatedly. I am not trying to start a fuss but there is clear turbo lag. You hear the tires spin after the launch which is when the turbos get on full boil. I'm not saying this won't be a monster, but it's there. The power doesn't come on right away..

So, the 5.7 may suck down 12 MPG but by god it goes RIGHT NOW when you prod it. I STILL can't get used to the gas after owning an LX for 5 months (partly bc of a surgery, too..). It just jumps. I want to see the 0-60 time, 1/4, and 5-60 time of the new Tundra. 5-60 times represent a car's actual acceleration better IMO. There is no replacement for displacement. Imagine the engines we'd have otherwise if we weren't forced into this by the EPA. Big NA engines would still be around.

Yeah exactly. Go look at a cluster from a 2012 Jag or Range. But I'd say your S-Class' look great, and it won't ever be an issue because you get new cars every few years. IDK how these 3D gauges work on the now current S-Class but I'm sure it's cool.

less reliable, more PITA to work on, more maintenance, worst mpg when towing than a V8 like the ecoboost is. Turbos arent the free lunch that people think they are.
