All good, don’t mean to go off topic but I really don’t get why I get markedly better MPG than Tundras do with the same gas guzzling old 5.7 when my vehicle is several hundred pounds heavier than some Tundras.
Anywho, there is a thread on the Tundra forums where owners are reporting real world MPG.

Are the 6 speed autos the same or do they have different ratios? I do know the Tundra's rear axle gear ratio is more aggressive than what's in the LX. I assume that's at least part of it.
Edit: Just looked it up. The (2014) LX and the (2021) Tundra have the same 6 gear ratios. The differential gear ratio is 3.91 on the LX and 4.30 on the Tundra.
I was facing one at the light the other day... Man that grille in chrome looks so terrible in person IMO. When it's black, it's also bad but not as bad as chrome.

IDK. Gearing, the math etc. I don’t know as much about as I do most other stuff. But I do know the gearing in LX is aggressive, fast off the line, yet it barely ticks above 2k RPM at 80. So would that Tundra feel even faster? I just took this pic, it’s always right around 13.5 give or take a few tenths for city and some short highway trips around town. Notice my tank is almost empty, this is a fair reading. LX rated at 12, just a pleasant surprise. The V6 crossover in my family gets 15-16, big whoop, this V8 is WELL worth mileage penalty.
is that coming from experience with a 2022 tundra? i was speaking from experience and actually owning one which i will take over anything else like armchair analysis. not trying to be rude but would love to see how that assessment was made. thanks.

I have decided to keep my Tundra for the foreseeable future, but frankly, I'm already tired of putting in 25 gallons at over 100 bucks and having it last me less than 300 miles. I understand why Toyota made the change that they did.
And, it's only going to get worse as oil prices are on the rise again. One analysis put the national average at $5/gal within the year, due to the Russia/Ukraine conflict. So, us "spoiled" Americans will be paying closer to what the EU has forever. I would have liked to have seen Toyota do better with their MPG rating in the new Tundra. They need to be competitive with the best of the big-three in this regard.

what you mean? Competitive. People cried about the old V8 fuel economy and smaller V6..they got it as Toyota is providing it
Lol, lord let’s have a few beers at a bar and talk Ford vs. Chevy V8s.
What kind of real world MPG do you get with the 5.0?
BTW just in general most of us who drive V8s don’t care about some EPA list. I’m aware my truck sucks down gas and I don’t care.
Real world is all over the map lol. Highway I get anywhere from 17-22 depending on how I'm driving. I have a lead foot. I've never achieved EPA ratings in any vehicle.
City is not great. 12-15 depending on driving which varies greatly. Vegas has me going from 0-60-0 a lot. I remind myself that my LS400 got worse MPG.
Ultimately if MPG was THAT important to me, I'd be driving a Prius(or at least an ecoboost).
I like Chevies, but I've always been a Ford guy at heart(outside of muscle cars). The styling and powertrain of the F-150 won out for me. I looked at GM's but the fact that they locked the 6.2 behind the high trims was a dealbreaker. After test driving a 5.0 there was no way I was ever going to be happy driving 5.3's again.
