I am liking this so far, would have been better with a TTV8 but at least the hybrid system looks like it can accept power increases if the link clutch holds. Nice truck
Got an express oil change today. Saw a nice Tundra inside the showroom. Nice design. Interior is a nice layout. Ii just wish they would get the little details down right.
lots of misaligned parts.
This was a limited trim. $71.000 CN + tax.
here is Tacoma. Nicely finished
And 4Runner

Wow, totally not acceptable at that price point. How was the interior quality? Hard plastics everywhere, quality of leather, feeling of door shut, etc?

Interior is pretty good. There are some cheap plastics here and there, worse in the rear than in the front. Leather was not bad.
It is funny that when trucks were relatively inexpensive 20-25 years ago, we didn't expect them to have the same fit and finish as passenger cars, but regardless, Toyota's trucks were exceptionally well made. Now that they cost the same or even more than passenger cars, Toyota's trucks are looking less well made. Most of this could be due to the Tundra being a major re-design, and they will likely, eventually, get the bugs out. But should consumers be punished for being the first to buy? Seems they should rather be rewarded somehow.
We waited so long for this Tundra that Ford now has the first EV Lightnings off the assembly line. Perhaps Toyota should have skipped the hybrid and turbo transition and gone straight to an EV Tundra.
Some friends of mine just bought the new Rivian Truck, Motor Trend's Truck of the Year. I haven't gotten a ride yet, but I'm looking forward to it!
It's disappointing to see some oversights there. I would hope they'll get the kinks worked out. I do intend to get a hybrid Tundra at some point. An electric truck would not work for me.

Whoa.....that's horrendous. I hardly have words. Yeah yeah the old Tundra was old as dirt but you could practically crack a kryptonite bar into pieces over it.
It's too bad that all these journalists and "expert" car reviewers had to dog the old Tundra because it wasn't as flashy as a Silverado or a Dodge Ram. They just want the newest thing possible, the shiny new toy. Well, guess what: This new truck looks awful and they've also got major issues under the hood. You hear about tons of recalls on a Silverado or Ram. Practically the second they roll off the assembly line there is a recall because they aren't built right and haven't been since the year 2000. I'm sure the 1st and 2nd gen Tundra's weren't perfect either, but you're talking about maybe a few recalls over 20 years vs. dozens and dozens against GM and Chrysler because they build nothing but horrendous vehicles.
New does NOT always mean better and this is a glaring example.

Those you tubers are not journalists. Just amateurs who have access to a free platform. They are more concerned with hitting their algorithms so they gain eyeballs so they funds from views

I do like the looks of the new tundra. But I agree the front end can be off putting.
Here is the front end from yesterday. I like the look, but I see where people might not like the plastic.

100% agree.

I like the new one. But I also appreciate the old one as well. Only thing I really hate about the old model was the lack a fully boxed frame.

That front looks cheap. Definitely not be-fitting of a truck this expensive.
It's not just YouTube. Car and Driver, Motortrend, etc any major publication. Their influence on customers buying decisions is big. Because the new truck does a 0-60 in 7.8 seconds vs 8.1 in the old Tundra and because the overall design isn't "new and exciting".
I guess people don't care they have to spend 50-60 grand on a new Tundra. As long as it has good benchmark numbers and giant screens with all their driving aids and carplay, that's all that matters.

I like the look, but I see how the plastic looks cheap. For some reason I don’t mind it as much. It has grille shutters in there too. What I dislike is the rake of the windshield, it’s too sloped. I do find the paint to be very high quality

The old Tundra was just ancient and did not compete with modern trucks. I would buy a new Tundra with those defects over a perfect old Tundra any day, its just a much better vehicle.
And GM trucks have a very long and positive reputation...I would buy a GM truck without hesitation. I would buy a Ford or Ram truck without any reservation either,
A body color front maw would really push the limited in the right direction for me personally, my first car was/is a body color paint matched truck so I really do not like chrome everywhere and I HATE plastic that is not used for something like the cowl.
That build quality is very surprising, my 03 is better than that....even though I have a good one that's not excusable since Toyota is normally way better than even a domestic that was built by people who cared that day.
GM/Ram is the way to go with GM having a different set of issues than Ram, both are good and better than Ford from everything I have seen and putting my bias aside. Toyota is for people who wanted mindless reliability at the cost of being constantly behind past 2013....07-11 was the "golden" timespan where the tundra/sequoia was the baddest truck you could've bought and just flat out better across the board.
Now if we are talking real trucks then it's ford all day, the 250/350SRW are where it's at. The only exception would be for max tow, then it would be dodge
These are built in the Texas plant right? Not sure how they are going to meet Lexus standards when the TX starts production over there when they cant this right.
