Just out of curiosity, has the '16 been reliable? A friend of mine owned two recent Siennas, with significant warranty-issues with both of them, and was not satisfied with Toyota's response to them. First Toyota products he has ever owned (and as a fan of them for almost 40 years) that had problems.
I bought it new and put almost 40,000 miles on it without issue save for 1 recall, IIRC.
Former coworker of mine just picked up a 2021 Sienna LE AWD. He was originally looking at the VW Atlas but couldn't make the numbers work. He went to look at the Sienna and had a much easier time. He seems to be absolutely in love with it.
Nothing major, just little things here and there (like all these recalls). The car itself is still solid as a workhorse. I am jealous of the 36 combined in the Sienna though. I'm getting 21/22 in the Ody
I'm sure it'll be fine in the mountains. I haven't heard Pacifica Hybrid drivers complaining, so I see no reason why the Sienna Hybrid would be different. I drove an older Sienna with I think 210 or 220 hp in the mountains, fully loaded up, without any issues.

I know you asked TriC about his 2016 sienna, but my 2011 sienna se (first year model) had served me well when I sold it in the summer at 144k. No major issues beside 2 warranty claim for an intermediate drive-shaft clunk and the overhead console button to open 1 of the sliding door.
If I were in the market for another minivan, I would love to pick up this new Sienna

My brother owns a Sienna is on his second (and a Palisade) First Sienna was a 2004.
I will admit I was a little taken back when Toyota announced it was gonna be all hybrid.
