I would love to drive one to see what the drivetrain is like. Pacifica Hybrid has only 15 more horsepower but weighs 400 lbs more. I'm more concerned about the coarseness of the 4 cylinder than the power.
why not just stick the tried and true V6 hybrid motor from previous gen Highlander and RX450h into this new Sienna? i know personally i'd happily sacrifice that 5 MPG for the extra power.

I would have been game for that, without a doubt. And having that powertrain in my Highlander makes me want to try out the 4 cylinder version in the new Highlander and Sienna to experience the difference before I totally write them off.
Front grill is huge like a whale mouth, it has the family gene of the supra and highlander hip, and the back is sharp
Do you mean the rear windows in the 3rd row that swing out?
last gen sienna had it, although higher trim XLE and Limited were powered
SE and LE had them, but had to manually open them
Yes, I meant new as in ones that have been launched within the last 5 years or so. Outgoing Sienna came out 10 years ago, when most minivans did have that feature
Due to health issues I'm shopping minivans (needed for a scooter lift in the rear) and checked out the new Sienna earlier this week. At 6-4 my head literally brushed the roof when in the driver seat of a sunroof equipped model. That alone disqualifies it for purchase. Other disappointments were the lack of the rear vent windows that were on the previous generation and, most inexplicably, rear bumper covers that are not body colored. Apparently, this is supposed to be some sort of styling accent, but it looks atrocious.
Ah, no. Had a '16 Sienna until recently and will likely go back to that generation, preferably an '18 to '20 model. There's no rush, so will wait for the right color, trim, miles, condition, and price to come along. If the search goes on long enough, will give the '22 Kia Sedona a look.
Will not buy a Pacific under any circumstances. Gave the Odyssey a close exam, but there are too many things about it that I just don't care for - unfortunate too since I've bought 3 new ones in the past (1999, 2005, and 2010).

What are your other needs/wants of a van? Obviously headroom is of great importance. Scooter lift (just a tow hitch mount I'm assuming?). Do you need the other rows of seating?
While the Full-size Transit is ridiculous, I find the Transit Connect to be pretty nice, and lots of good updated tech available as well. Front wheel drive should be good in Ohio, otherwise I'd offer up the Mercedes Metris as well, but that's Rear wheel drive only.
And as you noted, the new Sedona should be here in the 1st half of next year.

Just out of curiosity, has the '16 been reliable? A friend of mine owned two recent Siennas, with significant warranty-issues with both of them, and was not satisfied with Toyota's response to them. First Toyota products he has ever owned (and as a fan of them for almost 40 years) that had problems.

No, the lift will be installed inside the vehicle over the (folded into the floor) third row of seats. The scooter is something that is needed for situations that involve walking of any significant distance or being on my feet for any lengthy period of time, neither of which is any longer possible. Don't need the other rows of seating at all.
