Such a subjective topic, but me, I like both 3 Series and 3.5IS styling.
Both look great but in different ways.
3 Series is more rounded and softer, while IS is more angular.

It is the new refreshed Genesis G70 that will suffer in the sales race...

The G20 3series is very “Asian” influenced in its styling and it still hasn’t fully grown on me. The side profile is like Infiniti Q50 with rear tails from Lexus RC. Its meh design that looks acceptable in Msport trim but has lost a lot of BMW flair and styling trademarks. Performance wise its on another level with both the 4cyl and 6cyl motors being significant improvements.

The 3rd gen IS was a daring and original design which I thought looked great and still does. This updated gen is evolutionary but front is less unique and rear is not too attractive. Interior is almost the same. Overall it doesn’t move the needle at all.

I think the BMW 3 series looks a little plain in design, and looks like a normal sedan. The new IS looks more aggressive and sporty and just looks better to me but that is really where it ends. Unfortunately the IS is all bark and no bite.

Vigorously defending the BMW 3 series grille in a thread about Lexus IS? Are we in the wrong forum?

they didn’t hit the concept
property in 4GS. So they get to try again for 5GS.

it’s such a waste when they have a good design and don’t follow through.

EXE46, What you posted above is rude. It’s fine for you to have an opinion about Lexus grills, just as its fine for others to dislike BMWs new design.

However here’s another reminder that you are posting ON A LEXUS FORUM full of Lexus owners and enthusiasts. If you can’t be polite and respectful of our Lexus enthusiast member opinions about whatever new brand you currently love without making rude and dismissive comments then you shouldn’t post here any longer.

They Key to having the G20 BMW look good is to get the M Performance parts. It changes how the car looks, yes it looks tame and boring base. With the M Performance add on's it's easily one of the best looking Sedans out there.

All to have the front ruined by a license plate. Sad!

Actually, the license plate really helps the look of the new M4. Makes it look less horrid so its not all bad

No comparison, 3IS was in-between model much like 4GS when it comes to full transition to spindle. There is so little they could have done with 3.1v facelift. This 3.5v of IS is a full body repackage and there is simply no contest between the two.

new one looks a lot better overall, but wish they hadn't gone to the hood gap / front fascia vs the old one.

I really like the new styling but prefer the shape of the outgoing grille.

The overall look of the new IS is growing on me, especially the side. I'm just not a fan of the continuous taillight look that several manufacturers are going for lately. The only car that it looks good with those types of taillights is the Dodge Charger.
