but question for all... how much do you think this will help IS sales, especially since the interior seems to be unchanged?
IMO, unless Lexus does some big ad campaign, sales will likely remain flat or decrease a little over time. Some nice changes, but not enough to make people excited to spend $$ on it.
Looks like they gave it the same center console from the RC, where the touchpad moves to the left and the drive mode selector to the right of the transmission selector.
If there are no engine changes what's to get excited about? It's not different looking enough to warrant any excitement from me. Especially if it produces the same power as before. MEH
The center stack and area around the shifter are identical, so is the steering wheel and seats. Those are the main interior items that jump out as dated.
This is progress!
Not debating it’s a refresh and not an entirely new interior but are you even looking at the pictures, even the ones you posted? Steering wheel is different (minor but clearly not the same - different finish, control surrounds are a totally different shape and has a different number of buttons), same with the area around the shifter which is totally reconfigured. You can say in your opinion they look dated but your continued use identical continues to be totally incorrect.

post your source please where you saw the engine configurations? I haven’t seen them announced yet

I posted back to back pics of 2014 vs 2021.
Are there some differences? Sure - namely screen is bigger and now you have track pad.
I’m not stating no changes were made but The entire design and most of the pieces to me is the same - dash, shifter, center console, steering wheel, seats.
It’s definitely not the updated design from say LC and LS.
I think they will surprise us with a V8 or V6TT. No way they would be making such a fuss with the same powertrains.
All will be revealed tonight. However, the model shown in all the press material (IS 350) still has the same old 2GR under the hood. This is presumably the top-of-the-line spec. If we do get some powertrain updates, I wouldn't expect Lexus to incorporate them until later on in the model's life.
the post you ^ didn’t quote you, that was to someone else’s post
lol, actually you did multiple times (I quoted them) and that’s what I’m correcting.
If different trim or material finish constitutes as a “change” then you are correct.
I was referring to the actual design and shape which remains the same since 2014.
I’m not sure why you are defending such a poor effort after this model has been out now for so long. Its going to further hurt sales, just like what occurred with LS.
Hopefully they atleast put the great 5.0 V8 in it and bring back the ISF.
not bad, looks like they borrowed some stuff from the GS.
i didn't like how the body crease on the GS rises to the rear door handle, and then starts lower from the rear handle to the butt.
This 2021 does the same thing.
downward body line doesn't look so great though...
actually, everything from behind the rear door to the butt is a mess of creases.
