Default 2021 Chevy Traverse

The restyled 2021 Chevrolet Traverse is out, and it’s a little edgier than before. Despite GM (and the rest of the world) canceling its events, Chevy has revealed the three-row crossover digitally today. When it was redesigned for the 2018 model year, the Traverse was as vanilla as it gets. The big crossover was spacious, but there was nothing about the design to get your pulse racing.

This 2021 Traverse ramps the exterior styling up on the aggressiveness scale, but changes to the front and rear fascias can only take a vehicle so far. Chevy says the new look is Tahoe-inspired with a new front grille (High Country has copper inserts), sharply-styled headlights and taillights and four new wheel designs. The Tahoe comparison is a bit of a stretch in our book. We do like the new light designs, though (especially in the rear). However, the Traverse is still firmly on the side of generic family truckster, with crossovers like the Telluride and CX-9 retaining their style crowns.

On the interior, the Traverse will feature a new eight-inch infotainment system and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. There’s a big center screen in the instrument cluster, and the interior styling itself largely carries over into the new model year. Chevy says that there are more driver assistance features available as standard, and adaptive cruise control is available on higher trim levels, too.

The powertrain is carryover, which means the Traverse will be powered by a 3.6-liter V6. It produces 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, then sends it to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 2021 Traverse will go on sale sometime late this year.

Very pleasant styling on the outside. The new shapes up front are clean, modern, and sporty. I'd say this is one of the best-looking SUV's on the market.

The dash is still very weak. Dated appearance and way too much chrome glitz. GM really needs to give up the interior chrome trim, as it's about twenty years gone from everywhere else.

GM's traditional customers tend to like that kind of trim. GM tried doing garbage-quality interiors (and garbage-vehicles) in the 80s and 90s......and look where it got them.

I will admit, though, that, among American automakers, it's hard to beat some of the new Lincoln interiors.

I like the changes. I agree the dash is weak and outdated feeling. I really like these, they are BIG

Looks like they're trying to bring it more in line with the XT6. Seen a few of those on the road and really liked the look of them.

I think GM cars actually look good, just like Hyundais and Kias look good. Caddys look fantastic. But the powertrains are very outdated imho compared to Ford. And we own a GM product.

A couple weeks ago a new Aviator parked next to me at the gym. i thought it looked great so I looked it up online later that day. Very expensive.

Another example, when I rented a new Chevy Impala, I thought it looked good--way better than it drove.

With all due respect, are you sure you are talking about the current Impala? The 2014 redesign (which continued in effect until its demise this year) radically transformed the Impala from a rental-quality Queen to one of the best full-sized sedans on the market. Consumer Reports gave it an overall rating-score of 95 out of 100...virtually unheard of for a Chevrolet product, and up with the Mercedes S-Class and Lexus LS.

Yes picked it up in Montreal which would place the rental as January 2019. The way it drove I figured it was a 4 cyl. But because I got the equivalent of 14 mpg (had highway driving from airport to city) I lifted the hood and it was a 3.6 6 cyl. As mentioned I thought it looked good but had nothing else going for it--the roofline was super low and I had to keep ducking to get in lol.

As far as CR goes, they said there's nothing sporty about the new GTI, when it returned as a 2015 car, so I don't exactly align with them anyway....

At any rate I did get to drive it to St Joe's Oratory in snow and Notre Dame as I was there over a weekend. I said since when do I have to pay to get into Notre Dame? Dit la femme dequis 1998. DOH!!

p.s. the weirdest thing is I stayed for mass. empty seats all over and a person took a seat right next to me. I just got up and moved, after I checked for my wallet. sigh.
