Just as Buick introduced the Encore GX, its latest in-between compact crossover, Chevy is following suit with the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. It fits right between the Chevy Trax and the Equinox, and like with Buick and the normal Encore, the Traxwill continue to be on sale alongside the Trailblazer.
From the looks of it, it's very similar to the Trailblazer that made its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show. It's very much a baby Blazer in design with sharp angles, a huge grille, and angry, squinting headlights. The greenhouse is a little taller and boxier than the big Blazer, though. It also has an available two-tone roof on the RS trim. Considering the Trailblazer's size and position in the lineup, it probably shares the same platform, and likely powertrains, as the Buick Encore GX. But details on the platform and powertrains for both remain unknown.
The Trailblazer will go on sale early next year. Pricing will probably slide between the Trax's roughly $22,000 price tag and the Equinox's $24,995 base price. Chevy also notes that it will come with standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-keep assist. A rear-camera mirror and adaptive cruise control will be available as options.

Far nicer dash design compared to the retro Blazer look. The beady-eyed foglights are overstyled.
Problem is there are now way too many SUV's in Chevy/GMC's line-up. Good way to cannibalize sales.

Wow, Chevy is borrowing a lot of design cues from Lexus IMO. Look at the shape of the grille...! And top headlights look like new Hyundai SUV's. Seems they're taking more of the Japanese & Korean approach to exterior styling with the sharper angles, etc.
Still somewhat of an insult compared to the previous truck-based Blazers and TrailBlazers, but much less of one than what Chevy introduced a couple of months ago.

Why are they already showing a 2021 in its full production form? Seems the American brands in particular show their stuff way too early giving the competition lots of extra time to plan their models.
Those bottom lights are actually the headlights. Just like on Hyundai's. The top unit are just the LED day time running lights.
As for there being too many models. Traditionally yes. But remember US automakers are in the process of dropping a large portion of their sedans. Ford's dropping them all. With a mostly SUV/crossover/truck lineup, you're going to see crossover's filling every conceivable size and shape. Many more in-between models than before.

I disagree. I think you underestimate the potential of a two-door-Blazer. As far as the argument that four doors are necessary for an SUV-sale, don't forget that Chevy, and many other manufacturers, already have a slew of small and medium size 4-door crossovers that are selling. At least some of the 4-door Blazer sales (obviously, to all) are just cannibalizing them.

Car makers have really big and well funded market research departments.
If there was a demand for 2 door SUVs, they would already have proliferated the market. I see way more 4-door Wranglers on the road than 2-doors. Don't forget, the original RAV4 offered a 2-door model. It didn't make it past the 1st Gen.

You need to start reading what others post. I never said there was wasn't a demand for 4-door crossovers. Indeed, there is a very strong demand....sales prove that. What I said (and I will repeat it again, so please listen)...was that an awkwardly-styled crossover 4-door Blazer was probably not going to make much difference when already you have a sea of them from the same manufacturer and a number of potential buyers will just see it as an insult to the Blazer's own legacy. And you don't have to take my word for it (which you usually don't anyway)....you will probably see for yourself when Ford's Bronco debuts next year. The Bronco, though with 4-doors instead of two (and BOF design), will probably have significantly more sales-appeal than the Blazer, simply because its design is more worthy of the nameplate.
Actually, the smaller TrailBlazer that Hoovey posted will probably have more appeal than the mid-sized Blazer, simply because it avoids some of the styling-gimmicks the mid-sized one had, such as the Camaro dash.
