The Blazer is a ho-hum GM crossover from a long heritage of them making Ho-hum vehicles. It’s very “GM”. I personally think they’re good looking, but nothing from that segment really speaks to me. I wouldn’t buy a Ford Edge either, and don’t think it’s any more impressive than a Blazer.
As we have said before, the modern day Blazer and Bronco have nothing to do with each other. It would be like comparing a Ford Edge to a Chrysler Pacifica minivan because that nameplate was once used on a vehicle that used to compete with the Edge.

No, we do know. The Bronco is a 2 door BOF truck based vehicle and the Blazer is a 4 door unibody crossover. They are entirely different sorts of vehicles. It makes zero sense to compare them just because 40 years ago a vehicle called “Blazer” competed with a vehicle called “Bronco” that was similar. Ford chose to bring the nameplate back on a vehicle similar to that original Blazer, Chevy did not do that. End of story.
The Blazer had a life in 4 door SUVs for decades after the K9 Blazer that the Bronco did not, and it’s that history this Blazer calls on as a 4 door 2 row Family SUV. It does not compete with the Bronco in any way, nor is it designed to.

As for the name, Ford uses the Explorer name on a crossover. Nissan uses the Pathfinder name on a crossover. Now Chevy uses the Blazer name. It’s time to just get over that and compare the vehicle as a vehicle and not keep obsessing over the name.
Sales figures will mean nothing because the vehicles don’t compare with each other.

As for the name-issue, I simply don't agree that one can brush it aside. Look at the amount of chatter we have had in this forum, for example, about the vehicle you yourself drive...the Lexus LS. There's been an enormous amount of discussion and posts (most of which, IMO, were justified), about the comparison of the latest LS to its predecessors.

Of course you're 100% correct, but no amount of stating facts will change mmarshall's opinion that these 2 vehicles are 'competing'. New bronco buyers that mmarshall alleges would have considered a blazer had it been similar, ignores the fact that new blazer buyers would likely never consider the new bronco.

They’re not going to sell 70,000 of them a year like they will Blazers, nor does Ford intend for it to.
As for the current Blazer, I’m 38, I’m in the age range they’re targeting with the Blazer. My memory of the K5 Blazer is very distant, the last year it was made I was 10, the Bronco I have more memories of because it lasted longer, and it’s involvement in the OJ Simpson case. My memory when I think of “Blazer” is the S10 Blazer that competed with the Explorer. So to me this new 4 door crossover Blazer doesn’t seem strange at all.

The K5 Blazer was rebranded as a Tahoe. I remember when they did it. We really loved the 2 door full Chevy. If they were to bring back a 2 door like pic below, my money is on K5 Tahoe or just Tahoe.

ah, memories of OJ in the Bronco... no doubt that will be brought up by the late night shows at least when the new one is launched.

yes, new blazer more like s10, in fact that's the only old blazer i remember... never heard of the k5, only what it became i guess, the tahoe. a friend had one of those tahoe's (4 door) - what an absolute pile of junk. everything that could have gone wrong with it did.
