.....though, in all fairness, we won't really know until the Bronco debuts. As of now, we can (still) only guess on its sales, but my opinion is that it will attract most of the people that the Blazer could have attracted but didn't.....
You have some support on Autoblog. Today they went on about the Bronco and how it appears to be done the proper way. They wish the Blazer went the route of the Bronco...(you should listen to their podcast)

Thanks, Jill. Yes, I saw the podcast. In fact, I myself was (correctly) making that arguement before they did.
The old Blazer was one of the top 10 vehicles to be turned in for Obama's cash for clunkers program. Quite telling for those missing that old heap of junk.

First, it wasn't a heap of junk....it was a sturdily-built, full-size BOF SUV that was equally-useful for both towing and going off-road, although its large bulk could make it difficult to maneuver in tight places off-road. Second, I won't get into, in detail, all of the reasons why it was turned in, because it would probably be too political for CL...but, in general, the Administration managed to convince a lot of people that there was something wrong and sinful about driving large vehicles with V8s. Third, some enthusiasts would give their right arm to have one of those old Blazers or Broncos back today.

LOL, people drive even bigger SUVs with even bigger more powerful V8 engines today. There was nothing political about it, it was just a poorly built pile of compressed rust that rattled, squeaked, leaked every liquid, stunk and drove exactly like a pile of junk would. People with modest incomes turned them in and used the money towards fresh modern vehicles.

Exactly...that was partly my point....I don't think you grasped it. That whole CFC program really didn't accomplish much...and was a nightmare to administer.

Well, they were certainly built well enough to rack up a lot of miles....particularly the 5.7L V8 engines. Some of them went twice or more around the clock on the odometer. In fact, according to police, a number of them were stolen simply for the engine.

Blazer or TrailBlazer?
Because if it's Blazer, doesn't that say the opposite? If that was one of the top 10 cars turned in in 2009--for a car that wasn't sold (under that name) after 1991, doesn't that actually speak to the longevity of the K5 Blazer?

The old old Blazer from the 70ies that looked kind of like the old Broncos did have a cool factor to it, but the one based on the S10 with a few dozen of derivatives including Isuzu, Opel, Oldsmobile, GMC and Honda were all junk. I remember you were very vocal about Chevy Colorado pick up truck being a pile of junk - well guess what, the Blazer was based on the same S10 platform.
