Why 5k/6 month service schedule?

I thought most Lexi are 10k oil change intervals by now (?). The 5k is rapidly becoming outdated. No one should drive their car for 5k miles without having the settings they want. All those things should be done at delivery, as it only takes a very short time to program.

right now I'm driving with the triangle on ('06 LS), because I'm resolved to go 6,500 before I DIY the oil.....I'm not resetting it now because I don't know what the effect would be, I think nothing, but if the car were advanced, you can't just reset whenever you want, as many times as you want, and there would be a "counter" and an algorithm saying it's only been 1,500 since the last reset when I go to DIY, you can't reset it now, etc....

There are some things you don't know until you drive the car for awhile. For example, I didn't know the lane change blinker would be too long when I first picked the car up. It took me several lane changes to realize 7 blinks was too many for me.

All these customized features could have been handled by your sales associate or service dept at the time of sale. They are not big things to take care of. No one should drive 5k miles and miss using common features of the car. I had them program everything at the time of sale, which took an extra 30 minutes. If you missed that, take it back to them any time for the work to be done.

No, I got it. What I am personally used to us researching a car deep enough before a purchase, and knowing which settings to present upon purchase. It's in these forums, at the manufacturer's website, and quite a popular thing among enthusiasts. However, I wouldn't expect the average sale to be that way and it's perfectly fine many miss it.
Regardless, anyone can take a new car back to a dealer and have the settings done at any time. It's a small job and there is staff there just for such things.
