First Service Visit(s) Free?
Just brought the HS to have the dealer take a look at my rear bumper disaster (again, in case you didn't read that post, ARGHHHHHH), and he mentioned that since there was no record of the car's 5,000 mile service (we bought it with 6,744 miles on it), we would receive the 10,000 mi. service and 15,000 mi. service free.
I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, but what's up with this? Are the first two service visits free on any Lexus?
He also mentioned the 10,000 mile service visits are ones at which the oil is changed, but the 5,000 mile visits were basically a tire rotation (and check for the rest of the car). Is this right?

Lucky you getting a free 15,000 mile.
He's right. The 5 and 10k services are free. At the 5k, they rotate the tires and basically adjust the personalized settings for free. The one's you can't adjust and require the factory computer. Like being able to open the windows and sunroof by holding down the unlock button on the fob.

I purchased my two HS250's out of town, because the local dealer in SW Florida couldn't get fully equipped cars thanks to some ridiculous SE Regional Manager, apparently. However, the local dealer did a 10,000 mile service on both for free. H said that any Lexus dealer would do that up to the 10,000 mile level, but above that I would have to pay the going rate.
He also confirmed that the 1st oil change is supposed to be at 10,000 miles even though the car's computer program indicates an oil change is needed at 5,000 miles. I heard the 10,000 mile number several places - it was even in the service manual. It is just odd to me that Lexus would not have adjusted their computer to indicate 10,000 miles instead of 5,000 if that is what they wanted at the engineering level - or maybe it is a marketing ploy. Who knows? In any event, they don't change it until 10,000 miles, and the oil change is free.
