in our 2020 MB it has touch screen, remote touch pad, and also touch sensor on the steering wheel. you can use any of these interface to easily control the touch screen on top of voice control. bmw also has gesture sensing now as well. having touch screen back is definitely a must by today's standard imho (especially with how smart phones have evolved over the years), and possibly need to have more smart interface developed.
Screen in the RX is still too far away to use the touchscreen really.
i agree. i don't know if they had this design in mind when they first designed the RX but maybe that's why this new screen location design makes it a bit too far to touch / scroll comfortably

They definitely did not have it in mind. It is still difficult to use.

In my Highlander, which was designed from day 1 as a touchscreen, the screen is too far away to use comfortably. It's one of the things I don't like about it.

I believe they did move the screen closer when they added the touch screen. It is not in the same position as it was in the early years of this generation.
They did move it closer but its still too far away.
This is a picture I took this morning in my 2020 RX loaner, I'm sitting in my normal seating position with my arm outstretched as far as it could go without me leaning forward and my fingers are still 4 inches or so away from the screen.
The way the navi screen looks in the new RX kinda reminds me of the "peek-a-boo" navi screen from the ~2000 Infiniti I30 (my uncle had one of these!). Sorta like they just threw it up there because the original design didn't really have it in mind.

What’s up Henry! Long time no talk. What are you driving now? After years away, I’m finally back in the Lexus fold (2019 RX 450H F-Sport). Way different than my Model S, but still enjoyable.
But I hate the infotainment system in my RX, especially the remote mouse. Got my mom a 2020 GLC and the MBUX is great.

welcome back
at this rate pretty sure my wife won't get back with lexus. she has the 2020 GLE350 now, yes mbux is pretty impressive so far i have to say. so many different interface and they are all easy to use (and quick response).
my model 3 (just like other tesla) is also very easy to use (mainly touch screen), screen is big and it is close to me, can touch every part of the screen without moving my body. voice control is so-so, i mainly just use it for navigation which works pretty well.
with AI improving every day and how smart home is heading these days, i think voice control inside vehicle will be the next race
