Your kids don't have gaming devices/laptops to keep them busy?!😮😁!
They do but they only last so long.
Bottom line is none of us want to sit stationary for 45 min-1 hr on a trip. Most people don't. 400 miles of range means we don't have to, 300 miles of range means we do...thats the whole point.
Tell 11 year olds that a trip is going to take an extra hour and see what kind of an issue that is lol. Tell that to the dog too!
kids often mirror their parents. if the parent views an hour stop (and it wouldn't be an hour) as a huge drag, so will the kids. view it as (or make it) an adventure, suddenly it's an adventure.
The only thing I’m struggling with is how the difference between a 300 mile EV and a 400 mile EV results in an hour at a charger. Where does that hour come from? My last 500 mile trip only required 2 short stops and one of them was in part to ensure a little extra charge to be on the safe side.

Still incapable of accepting my POV. #1, you have no kids...so save your parenting advice. We don't want to stop for that length of time either. An adventure nobody wants. We'd rather drive to somewhere with a worthwhile adventure and do that for an hour. Hanging out at Walmart doesn't excite us, if you like that then cool.
#2, it is an hour with only 300 miles of range at 80 MPH over 1 or 2 stops according to ABRP. Until I have experience thats going to tell me this tool is wrong I'm going to assume its right. Again from earlier in the thread...
300 miles of range in 1 stop. 54 min stop to get there with 15%:
Letting it stop twice, once for 6 min and once for 31 min...
This is an R1S with 400 miles of range. The power of more range, one 11 min stop:
The one 11 min stop is what every one would prefer including you, admit it. Leaving on this trip in 2 hours actually in my PHEV that fits our lifestyles without major adaptations. When Lexus makes an EV that does the same thing I will be thrilled to pay them for it. Until then I remain no longer their customer.

It comes from ABRP, do you drive at 80 MPH? Does that trip involve 3,000 miles of elevation gain? I'm just going off of what ABRP says using a similar vehicle (Vistiq, which acually has a little bit better battery)
Just ran it again this morning, departing at 100% SOC, 80MPH set speed, allowing fewest stops...1h 5Min:
Allowing for "Fewest" stops, 2 stops 25 and 11 mins. Thats not terrible but I don't want to stop twice:
R1S Max pack, one stop. This is the performance a luxury family EV should deliver IMO:

3000 miles of elevation gain? That has to be a typo - you probably meant 3000 ft.
My 500 mile trip includes up and down the Tejon Pass/Grapevine, so up to 4144 ft elevation. ABRP defaults assume a minimum of 5% degradation, assumes conservative efficiency and so on. ABRP is at its best when you have it connected and able to use live data. I think your issue is there. ABRP maybe isn't giving the best info with its defaults, hence the questions.
