General Car Conversation - 2026 Part 1
Sometimes I just hate people. Because of that I always strategically park my car because so many people are idiots. I know not the norm but if I did that I would have left a note.
you said the ES range is ok because it’s not for families doing long trips. to me that is a very odd conclusion. i actually find it hilarious. put simply, people driving vehicles other than 3 row suvs do travel as well.
I think there is a market for an ES with low range because people buy vehicles like that just to commute in. I think there is a much smaller market for a big 3 row TZ that only appeals to people commuting or driving around town.
I really don’t see what is so hard to understand.

I said that it’s not the sort of vehicle people specifically buy to drive on a trip, a 3 row crossover is. Of course people also travel in sedans, I travel in my sedan. People also buy sedans just to drive around town. I don’t think many people buy expensive 3 row family vehicles without planning on using those vehicles to take trips with their families.

I see a number of big 3-row SUVS like Escalades, Expeditions, Yukons, etc....running around this area with one or two people in them at most. I think (and this gets back to what some Defensive-Driving-schools used to teach) that some folks buy these gargantuans simply because they want to "feel" safe. These Driving-Instructors used to teach (and common lore generally was) that, the more metal you have around you, the potentially safer you are in an accident. So, they buy these hulks, put up with the poor fuel mileage and difficult manuverability/parking, so they, in their minds at least, don't have to worry as much about being crushed in an accident. That's also one reason (among several) why the Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, and Town Cars were so popular with Seniors...they were also taught that at the Over-55-Driving courses.

The 2.5-liter gasoline four-cylinder engine doesn't change much, but total combined output of 244 horsepower is up from the previous ES300h's 215 horses. That's apparently enough for Lexus to bump the badge up to ES350h. All-wheel drive is optional on the hybrid ES for the first time, courtesy of an additional electric motor on the rear axle, though it doesn't change output figures compared with the front-wheel-drive configuration.

Range is really important for getting these buyers to convert to an EV.
I have not moved on my personal car requirements to get an EV, must have 2000hp, 650 mile range at full charge, 5 minute reload, no external communications/datalink.
Past that I want a sedan with a Bentley level interior etc
Other thing I want and will buy is one of those slate trucks, perfect work vehicle that doesn't have to leave the state for its tasks.

Thought you would get a kick out of this. This is "Stupids Corner" in WV, been around this corner MANY times. Its on the road down to the bottom of the Gorge under the NRG Bridge. My favorite is the guy on the motorcycle that just falls over lol. This is all from the last month, guy who lives there has a camera set up.
I will say that is NOT my W223 S Class lol
