So I got pulled over for the first time since 2004 today. I made a left turn on a red light from a two way street onto a one way street which you can't do. The cop told me a one way to one way is fine. I told him I've made that left many times in the past and he laughed.
He said he pulls people over all the time for that. He was very nice and let me off with a warning.

i'm a bit confused when can you make a left on a red light? regardless if it's a one way street or not lol
My understanding is that it is only allowed in turning from a one way street to a one way street.
i'd need to see a street view of an example intersection, still not sure i'm properly visualizing this... it makes sense but i've only ever heard of right on red

The reason you can't do it from a two-way is because you have to cross a lane of oncoming traffic to do it. But yes I've done a left turn on red a number of times, and it always feels weird.
