Best simple Level 2 Setup for charging PHEV
20A @ 240V though is still 4.8kW which isn't terrible for a model Y.

there’s chargers that are hard wired and ones that plug into a 240v outlet like a 14-50 nema socket.
so i think you need an ‘actual physical charger’ regardless.
I'm not really worried about charging at 50 amps vs 40 amps, we're going to charge even an EV every night when we park, its just the way we prefer to do it so they will never have a ton of recharging needing to be done.
Question about a wallbox, does the plug need to be 'hung up" on the box for any reason? I say this because this is where I want to set it up. The red circle on the back wall is where I want to put the plug or the wallbox. Right now the Pacifica charges in front on the drivers side, but that will change depending on the vehicle. I would continue to "hang up" the plug on the existing hanger where the 110v charger is plugged in now to the right.
If we got an MB PHEV they charge at the rear on the drivers side. Toyota PHEVs charge at the rear on the passenger side etc, so I want to be able to make it work regardless of what we get to replace the Pacifica next fall. If it charges in the front we don't want to have to walk back to the charger and then walk back up to the port...does that make sense?
May be that the best way to future proof it is to go ahead and run a 60A circuit and hardwire a wallbox...maybe they can be daisy chained but when we have two plug in vehicles we want to be able to charge both every night in their spots where they always park, don't want to be moving stuff around to charge. Have until the S580 goes back in summer 2027 to worry about having two though.

I don't know anything about this dealer other than it's in VA, but that's some good pricing for a van
I really wish they would make an MB GLS PHEV...or an X7 PHEV.
Will think about a 60A circuit and a wallbox...
most flexible would be hardwired chargers center of parking space for each on back wall or side walls. then cord can go around to wherever charge port is.

On my side I wouldn't want it on the back wall because people walking through the door would have to step over the cable, I would want it on the side wall then it could wrap around my car to the drivers side if its there and people can still walk through the door without tripping over the cable. Behind that wall is also the storage room where the breaker panel is.
