When Lexus started with making a better S Class it worked. Once they decided to do the Toyota way and do their own luxury, things started to get us where we are today.
While Lexus has lost their way in certain ways they are making what the market wants with the best selling RX and TX.

Enthusiasts make the brand desirable though. Thats why they should do both.
It all comes down to profit. I'm sure they can design to compete like they did with the 4GS, but as we know, it got axed. Was it because it was a bad design? Of course not. It didn't bring in enough profit. Regardless, IMO they still have nice vehicles and their sales numbers show. It may not fit certain people's needs, but who cares? The last time I spoke with a GX potential owner, it was still 6+ months to wait. This may not drive like a German SUV, but damn the more I look at it, the more I like. Way better than other much more expensive boxes.

The GX and LX are still proper enthusiast vehicles...
