Lexus just sucks now minus the LC. I was asked a car recommendation by my spouse's friend (she wants a decently large SUV) and I realized myself that Lexus currently offers nothing that would fit her needs.

That's pathetic.

She's going to look at a Tahoe because she likes them and they're big enough inside. And she insists on a pano roof that actually opens, since Lexus doesn't do that either.

I never would anyway but now I'm REALLLLLLY never gonna dump the LS430. It's the best car they ever made IMO. We don't need to argue over that, it's just my opinion.
You’re selling her some future unplanned service visits and recalls.

TX has pano roof that opens and it’s spacious. 6ft passengers fit comfortably in 3rd row.

A battery allows even non-bespoke platform EV's to have almost equal weight distribution, and more power getting sent to the rear wheels to make a vehicle RWD-biased can be done with mere software programming in an EV. As for space, the new ES EV is more spacious than any LS ever was.
ah, well spotted… ev’s are more space-efficient, faster, more flexible, etc. but we’re not supposed to talk about ev’s here.

Short of Lexus pulling some insane pipe dream fantasy like making a V12 LS, there's just no point in it existing alongside the new ES.
right well that’s not happening, lol.

A big barge like the LS, S560 , 7 series , A8 should be comfortable and relaxing first , sporty as an option.
nice idea, but the sedan market has shrunk to almost nothing because people prefer cuv/suv’s and lexus knows this too of course. the LX is their flagship now, despite being incredibly ugly with a weird short wheelbase because it works so hard to be ‘all things to all people’ and is in fact based on the land cruiser you mentioned!

the ES cannot fill the LS shoes . The IS I feel is soon also discontinued after the most current refresh.
agree on first, and on second, lexus needs to do a pure electric IS. it could be amazing. no more 4 cylinder hybrid horrible drivetrains.

Critical.
Even if they only sell ten. Lol

Bring back the LS or the ceiling of this brand is now the ES which never had a flagship image.

Just Imo everyone. 😁
flagships don’t have to be sedans.

genesis mimicks lexus in their line up in some ways and have their G90 as the current flagship. the G90 is much more luxurious than the LS500, but a GV90 SUV is coming that i expect to be amazing.

sedans just are no longer great as flagships as they’re too low and less space efficient. and big gas engines certainly make them all space inefficient.

well they could, but the market for huge luxurious sedans is tiny and largely ‘owned’ by mercedes.

agree! an electric drivetrain is simply better aligned with ‘luxury’. better packaging, silent, effortlessly powerful. all things luxurious cars should be.

trying to make all those thrashing cylinders, valves, turbo fans, batteries work very quietly AND efficiently is an exercise in futility at this point.

Recall yes, it's disappointing. But our Yukon has been rock solid. If it weren't a great truck we would know it by now, it's been 3 years. Flawless.

TX she's not interested in because she thinks it's boring and she doesn't want 4 cylinders.

Like I said, it's sad that I can't even give a good Lexus recommendation because everything they offer sucks now except the LC. GX is decent but not big enough for family duty she needs.

BTW lol I now have two close friends within my circle who drive black on black Denalis, lmao. It's because of me, mostly. My one buddy just picked his '23 up yesterday, has already thrown rims on it. He used to hate on GM left and right but loves this truck, he's even admitting it to me which is a big step for him lol.

The only part of DHP you can't get is the rear wheel steering (no idea why). The performance damper, LSD, and upgraded brakes are all standard equipment on Bespoke, and you can add the carbon roof for $2400.

The hard truth is that sedans don’t sell and aren’t not going to be flagships. Lexus did the right thing killing off the LS, should have done it sooner.

Has nothing to do with packaging, lack of V8 etc. Look at other brands, sedans can’t command the premium asking price anymore.

Loyalist to the Lexus brand have been buying LX instead as a flagship.

Even though the LS is no big deal anymore (that's putting it mildly), it IS a big deal that a car as iconic and rich with history is getting axed.

All the competition bought LS400s when they came out and took them apart head to toe just to study the engineering. Cadillac flat admitted they didn't even have the equipment, not to mention capability, to produce a car like the LS400.

the problem with the Lexus LS and the Lexus brand is the lack of a modern updated V8. Even LC500 uses an ancient V8 from 2007….Lexus LX needs a V8

Agree, but I don't care how old the LCs V8 is. It screams to 7200RPM and I'm sure is as reliable as the sunrise. Plus a V8 is a V8.

fine…but Lexus is supposed to be quiet and relaxing. Not screaming. Some remove the sound pipes that enter the LC500 because the sound is apparently so irritating…

The LC engine is less than 10 years old and shares near nothing with the 1UR

The LC uses the 2UR which launched with the ISF in 2008. Sure it's iterative but it's still the same 20 year old design, not that it's a bad thing necessarily.

LOL I'm never gonna get tired of a big V8 screaming to 7200RPM. Ever.

And I've spent lots of time in a GSF, when it's driven around normally it's quiet and serene, and silky like a Lexus should be. I don't see why the LC would be any different with the same engine.

It is the same. If you aren't on it in the LC it's extremely quiet. It even has an active exhaust to help it's jekyl and hyde personality

The current version doesn't share anything and should have been a new designation but Lexus didn't for some reason. Everything was changed for the most part
