Lexus LS - Discontinued
the DHP has machanical variable gear ratio steering which is excellent and works with the rear steering to make the car feel dramatically smaller than it is. and the DHP doesn’t have different brakes.

Does this LS discontinuation really bother Lexus? Lexus makes a tremendous profit selling a bunch of grossly overpriced SUV's. Here in Canada, an RX is running nearly 6 figures. They sell 20 SUV's for 1 sedan, and that's being generous to the sedans. That's what the general masses want, so give it to them like a drug. Lexus has figured out what pays the bills. Good on Lexus.

The LS has been dead since the LS 460. Lexus left that model to die on the vine.
Was the LS 500 a sports sedan or a luxury sedan? Neither. lol.
I am not sure a V8 would have saved the LS. We will never know. One thing for certain, consumers want SUVs. Lexus should add one more SUV above the LX. I bet it would sell like crazy. Competition to Escalade and other large SUVs.
👍👍

Well, it's true that the latest LS500 was not selling...so dropping it may (?) make some buisness-sense. But, IMO, that's Lexus's own fault...they were the ones who screwed up the LS500's design after they did such an excellent job on the 400, 430, and 460. And it is also true that many consumers, these days, just want crossovers. As people age, getting in and out of low-slung sedans becomes more difficult, they don't have the ground-clearance most crossovers do for going through deeper snow, and they are more compromised on cargo-space in the rear...especially with the tiny trunk-lid openings that are forced by the Humpback-Whale rooflines of today's sedans. Today's sedans also lack rear seat headroom for that reason.

It doesn't help that there's no room inside, with cars being so swoopy these days by design. It's insane that the 500 is almost a foot longer than my 430 yet feels cramped and small inside by comparison.
Another reason huge SUVs are basically the new luxury sedan and they can't keep them on lots.
