Thats also what I think. Luxury is choice and excess so they spoiled provide all options

I didn't like it either in the Yukon at first but I've come around, I feel you might be that way too... (Though who cares if you never find out, obviously.)

I set it to just about the lowest brightness, it does really come in handy on the interstate if you're trying to watch your speed, etc. You get used to it I guess is what I'm saying.

That said, there are several settings and all I want to see is the speed I'm going, that's literally it. I wouldn't want one if it was all or nothing, info wise.

the driving mode button in vehicles with zero performance bits, like appreciable power, adaptive suspension, adaptive aero, etc. What are you changing really?

The theme on the screen, how much fake nosies the speakers play, how late the trans shifts and "rev matches" and making the throttle even more non-linear.

Aka pointless glam and effects that will impress 95% of all car owners to make them think the car is very advanced/sporty/packed with features.

If you don't have some level of adaptive steering, suspension, and at least 400ish HP with a transmission that can go into lockup from mid first gear up it's really just a pointless stupid feature. Otherwise your car was going to 4-5k rpm to move with traffic beforehand, now it's just doing with with extra rev hang and red backgrounds

I'm surprised that someone like Steve would not want an HUD. It's super useful IMO when you're in a new area and have to use navi. It's right up there in your face. When you're in a wrong lane (to get on next freeway), it also signals you to move to the right turn. It can display either OEM navi or iMap. Some say gMap is displayed to but it's random. I must say though some can look annoying. BMW's latest Sports mode looks very odd but they allow you to customize which kind of makes up for the ugly design.

Yeah it is surprising, a HUD is the ultimate and proper implementation of a screen IMO because it finally gives you something for the lack of bespoke instruments/physical gauges etc. I would love a car with zero screens and pure gauges for critical systems with all extra info on the hud and a folding screen for system settings.

I have, and fortunately the truck I was driving at the time let me run with the headlights off, just fogs and corners. Even low beams made it impossible to see more than a foot or two past the grille. I had probably a good 50-70’ of visibility with just the fogs. Still had to go slowly and carefully, but I could at least move safely.

More generally, I like fog lights because they provide much better visibility to the side of the road close to me than the headlights do on their own.

Hell no. The Auto HVAC in my 2023 is so good I have literally never touched the settings in over two years. Turned it on and off when going windows-down in the summer, yes. Re-enabled sync after my wife jacked up the temp on her side, yes. Never once adjusted the settings. It’s just perfect ALL THE TIME. That’s what luxury should be.

When I have rentals with manual controls I have to tweak them 40x per drive. No f’ing thank you.

Auto hvac is great, especially if you prefer a precise temp range. However it becomes a bother when the performance of the system isnt great, ie cold mornings or humid hot middays, like different temps daily, and its compounded by a system that design features include no max ac or heat button, no manual fan or vent selection, or requires one degree step up or down temp control via physical, virtual, or natural voice recognition.

Very specific circumstances i realize.

Another useless fx is air quality sensitivity for auto intake vs recirc vs filter on select vehicles. Filter the air regardless of air intake setting.

Dense fog, rain been there done that, oe fogs were useless. Have not gotten to needing proper fogs again, but i think one needs pod/ditch lights in the amber color mounted on the a pillar, bumper and or roof. The oe fogs are great for very slow speed driving, but at anything above walking speed, rethink equipment.

I’ve never driven the Merc in heavy fog but you can drive with just the parking and fog lights on. No lowbeams.

I feel like I’m in Miami Vice or something bc that’s how I cruise most of the time lol. Are y’all saying this works in fog better?

I like the fog lights in my truck. The headlights are so high up off the ground that in heavy fog I can turn those on and they put a lot of light down low right on the road just in front of me and that helps. On the GS I feel like they'd be pointless. On the Highlander I use them as the stupid cheap halogen headlights are crap and need all of the help they can get.

Same here with my 2024 and the 2019 before it. About the only thing I touch is the temp control up or down a few degrees as needed, and the cabin is always comfortable without all of the fiddling around that I used to do.

Higher end cars have a temp sensor per vent, per seat, and IR probes so they are always dead on. If a car has a filter it will always filter intake air AFAIK and recirc can be adjusted to taste, some cars have ionizers as well

Look there are auto-climate control people, and there are non-auto-climate control people. There's no convincing the other side, might as well be politics lol.

I lovvvve auto A/C. Set it and forget it, that's the point.

I may change temps from 68-72 but that's normal... to fine tune it. Some people will literally never change it, ever. My stepdad was like that, never budged from 70.

When I get into a rental with no auto A/C I have to adjust it like 3000 times.

Auto A/C is great.
