To be fair though I don’t believe you have driven one with the V8, right?

No but I plan on asking our sales rep will he have one pulled to the side for me to test drive tomorrow when I pick up the X7. I also planned on asking the SA his opinion on them from a reliability standpoint. May pose the same question to a tech if have time to walk in the service area.

If I remember, I will take my draggy with me.

I do think the EV Escalade looks great, I'll definitely give it that.

Re: the Merc I drove. I'm not sure if it was as nice as a new W210 at the time... You could tell it was a high end car for sure but I'd drive the Yukon over something like that any day of the week. Maybe back then it's just their cars were that good and luxury SUVs were just so much in their infancy. Give me an S Class and that's different, however. The wood trim was the same open pore black as in the Yukon and roughly the same quality.

It was missing the hood star, which is just a crime on a Mercedes sedan.

It's the best damn part of driving a Benz, sorta!!!! To be at the helm of a substantial Benz with that star on the hood you always see, 24/7 while driving... ::ChefsKiss::

I think Mercedes has the best logo maybe of all time, too. Not counting just cars. It's timeless, simple, commanding, and elegant.

it's not possible to over estimate how petty and irrational some wealthy people can be about money. i've known some very wealthy people who like to talk about saving money on gas.

i don't consider an e300 with 85k mi. on it to be 'high end'. kind of a step up from a camry.

gf just had a genesis g70 3.3 v6 turbo as a loaner. WAY nicer (and very quick).

Fair enough, and trust me I know cheap rich people too. What kind of person worth 8 figures throws a party at their mansion and buys the cheapest liquor available like that guy I know? I'm not talking like Pinnacle vodka (gross too but drinkable), I mean the stuff like Takka and Popov.

The 20k figure is just a number I threw out. It was a nice round number, that's gross 240k a year which isn't mansion rich I agree but that's a pretty good living, gross at least.

Why not? It's an E-Class Mercedes. Perfect condition.

That's nice, but a Genesis isn't a Mercedes Benz, not even close. You can get a fast E-Class still, solved.

BTW I want my roadster back, this is day 2 in the shop for the top hydraulics.

They stock the rebuilt cylinders from TopHydraulics.com themselves so there's no waiting. It might be done today. A piece of me feels missing with that car not in the garage.

I need tires for the Mercedes. There's another 2 grand lol. The bills start to add up once you have 4 cars lol, but it's worth it and I can afford it.

You need to drive some of them. That G70 is nicer than many Mercedes, I would take that over a GLC for sure. For one, you can get it with a V6...no 6 in the GLC even in the GLC63. Its certainly nicer than that old E Class, not nicer than a new E Class. The new current gen E Class is a great product. I would take a G70 over a GLE350, but not a GLE450. G70 blows away the interior of most Mercedes.

Watch this savagegeese video about the latest G70, specifically all the work that Genesis put into the suspension and isolation of the vehicle:

Did you mean the GV70? The G70 is a small sport-sedan.

was going to point this out, and you're right.

our loaner was the sedan (g70) not the suv (gv70). the gv70 just had a bunch of updates for '26 (as shown in savagegeese's video). really nice vehicle. is it a sports car? no, but that's fine imo.

i heard the g70 might be done, but i doubt that'a true, genesis is rumored to be coming out with a range of hybrid upgrades for non-ev models.

and their sales are climbing quite nicely. i'm still stunned how many new vehicles are on the lot at my local genesis dealer. either they're not selling, or having a nice on hand supply is working for them.
