I have yet to see the M5 wagon in the wild.
I have a RS6 Avant and it is wonderful. My wife gives me grief (in jest) about it, but she now understands it better. We were driving home 3 hours after a long day. It was around 10 pm outside of Orlando. Traffic had opened up as we distanced ourselves from the Mouse House. I was cruising effortlessly at 90 (yes, I was behaving) and she looked over and commented how smooth this car was and she had no idea we were traveling this fast. That's why I own a vehicle like this.
I've seen a couple now. I'm not really a big wagon guy but compared to the sedan, the wagon is a big visual improvement this generation.
It's too bad it's become so bloated and heavy, but BMW didn't really have a choice under Euro 7 if they wanted to continue offering a V8. And we saw what happened when Mercedes dropped the V8 from the C63.
My buddy's is matte black with a black interior, looks great. They make a blue too that looks incredible. Watched Savagegeese's review of the M5 last night and it sounds like it might be a little heavy handed for daily use. The E53 wagon though also looks great IMO. Missing the V8 though...
Do they not make them 63 anymore? There is a matte black one I see at the ice rink near me that looks awesome.
The RS6 to me is the best looking of the three competitors and would be my choice even if the performance is behind the M5 and E63. We looked at a black one with the upgraded black wheels and it looked great. I thought the interior looked great as well.
That color above isn’t blue, that’s Alpine Gray. It’s the lighting in the picture that makes it look blue. It’s a flat gray like BMW’s Brooklyn Gray or Audis Nardo Gray.
The E53 wagon comes in Nautical Blue which is a nice dark blue. I wanted that color for my S580
