Are you being sarcastic?

A W210 wagon (old, I know) has such huge cargo area it sorta makes the rear end of the car ugly. Insane amount of room inside.

The first car I ever bought new was a 1998 Mercedes wagon, and I will never stop having a soft spot for both MB and wagons as a consequence.

And a good wagon has as much utility as comparably-sized SUV, with the benefit of much better driving dynamics.

This could help but it's not very convenient.

Cargo area is really about the same as say a GLE or an X5. It’s really is the third row that’s an issue for us. Can’t put people on the roof sadly.

How so? They are very similar to the most common SUVs space wise, this would be no smaller than an X5/Cayenne/GLE etc inside

Oh you'll like this then.... It's a W124 but W210s were still tanks...

All borderline insanity if you ask me. They REALLLLLY did build cars that were this robust. The fact that the engine didn't lock up from the water astounds me.

If I had more room for cars I’d go write a check for this right now.

Only $4500. Look how dumb Jag’s one wiper setup was:

Unlike MB’s, the Jag one wiper didn’t pivot to cover more glass space. It wasn’t really anything special engineering wise.

Compare to a Mercedes where you can’t even see the wiper:

I do wish I had more room bc I would seriously buy that Jag right now, assuming it passed an inspection.

Lol I don’t care. I’m glad four cylinder drivers like what they have.

How many times do I have to say this…. It’s not just speed. I drove our IS350 oh, about 5 times. That car would do 0-60 in under 5 seconds.

A halfway decent half throttle pull in my V8 SL gives me more satisfaction than that car ever could. And it would leave my MB sucking wind.

I could not care less. That Mercedes has a soul and it connects to mine it feels like lol.

all this merc wagon talk! my newest (and dirtiest) vehicle in my stable is a W211 (technically S211 being a wagon). from experience, working on these cars is a PAIN vs japanese which i'm used too. but they are awesome highway cruisers!
already got rid of the rear air bags (self leveling - it was leaking) in favor of standard coil springs. next is to lower it and get some nicer wheels! i'll clean it eventually...

If you get serious about this, look at the next gen - X350, 2004-2009. I think that’s a prior gen X308. The X350s can be had for the same money in excellent shape. I have been SORELY tempted to get one, and someday I probably will.

The X350 was a superb version; absolute peak XJ generation IMO. Very good, improved, 6HP trans, peak V8 with the AJV8. They added dual VVT this gen which made a really nice driveability improvement, and one that does not show up in the specs. Very good electrics (courtesy of Ford). Really VERY reliable cars, great ride, great looks. It all came together nicely in those years.

I see these dinosaurs on weekends when the owners take them out to cruise around. And I guess to visit the ER.
