indeed. completely different vehicles. i didn’t and wasn’t comparing the two.

we have the cuv / suv distinction some make, but obviously the gla /glb / x1 / x2 are all front wheel drive. whether they’re “suvs” at this point is subjective, but clearly they’re the entry non-sedan vehicles.
LOL in high school one of my friends had an early 90s Cutlass with the infamous 3800 engine. He used to smoke my 4th gen 5 spd Accord.
Lol 3800 is famous, not infamous. They were great engines all around. Easily the best domestic V6 for a generation IMO. I'd happily drive a 3800 car today if it were that or some garbage 2.0t.

Yep. It wasn't some fire breathing V8 or anything but that van seriously had some good pickup for what it was in 1994. I have told this story so apologies but newer members may not have heard it... once on the way to school my Mother got pulled over in a very conspicuous spot and the cop was like "What the hellll engine is in that thing.... ma'am, I was doing 75 just trying to catch up to you..." Then mom blamed the ticket on me lmao, "You were supposed to be watching!!!!" She taught at the same school complex that I went to and the busses went by as we were pulled over, lots of busses carrying her own students and they all saw us and asked her/made fun of her about it in her class. LMAO. That thing had some get up. I mean, for 1994. And my mother was always sorta hyper and coffeed up in the mornings so she'd have an especially heavy foot going to work. We still talk about that van every now and then lol.
took an uber and the same driver as before didn’t have the suburban this time so we had to suffer lol in an s-class. guessing this is a year or two older but i love how it DOESN’T have the ski slope lower center screen mercedes is now using on some models.
like the puddle lamps.

and yet bmw, mercedes and audi all sell tons of 6 figure V6 hybrid models.
I'm going to be a pedant and point out that BMW has sold exactly zero of those at any price point. I don't believe Mercedes has either, at least for the 6-figure cars. There was an E400 back in the day that was a V6 hybrid, but nowhere near $100k.
Now, both manufacturers have certainly paired already-powerful twin-turbo straight sixes with hybrid assist in very expensive cars. Engines that were already good enough to be the base engine in those cars on their own. The idea of a halo Grand Touring car with only a 2GR and nothing else is frankly absurd. Adding a hybrid motor doesn't really change that.

and i’m going to be a pedant and say you’re wrong, they’re all doing it, bragging about it … and that mild hybrids are still hybrids with all the complexity.

Totally different than the LC500h, thats a regular I6 with the 48v system, same as what I have with the TTV8, that has no hybrid drive characteristics at all where the LC500h does.
Its not about the complexity its about the hybrid drive and how that eliminates much of the LC's character.
