Start/stop is a HUGE reason it's there. That's a fact.
Not entirely true. My Cayenne has a 48v system that is only on cars optioned with PDCC which I have. I don’t think it has anything to do with stop/start because of how bad it is and it if would help I would welcome it.
Hot-V is that way. Nice short runners for great response and efficiency, but heat soak always needs to be accounted for. Mine does not do that even if I've run it hard, because the turbos are mounted to the side of the block.
I honestly think that it's all the same, heat is heat and concentrating it in the V vs down low doesn't change the overall amount of it. The fact it's in one spot under the hood just draws attention to it far more because it can be felt more easily. Both low and high mount W222s throw off the same amount of heat from what I have felt, both cars measure the same on a temp gun on the valve covers and rads. I was also curious if they really are hotter but it just seems to be a thing people say happens
Meh, mechanics and folks who yell at clouds said similar things with power windows, efi, obd2, etc etc. The industry on both sides of a cars development and maintenance adapted and progress continued.
Ever had to deal with a CAN gateway failure from a dead tail light preventing a car from starting or draining the car down overnight and not setting any codes because of communication failure? Or a BCM randomly cutting out and because it's in a part of the CAN loop that is down leg from the radio you have to manually figure out the radio is the actual issue?
This 48V stuff will result in the same thing but worse, less and less people will be able to work on it and like I said it further harm serviceability. Dealerships already have to have diag specialists come in to test cars so dealers will have to do more of that (extra $$$$) or just throw the parts cannon at it and under warranty that will result in even worse situations of multi month waits for parts. See what happened with VAG 48v HSGs as an example
I don't care, I DO know how it works and can work on it so it's just more money for me. Sucks for common consumers though lol!

I disagree as thats combining two separate issues as one. On one hand, right to repair remains at the hands of a mfg, if mfg X says "we want a walled garden," designers implement said principle and that turd of decision is not because of 48v, its because someone was a turd. With zonal architecture, we are bringing back design and understanding in house, so mfgs dont replicate bandwidth hogging modules (ie one ecu to control to the left window while another controlling the right window, while another separate module controls the left door lock etc).

Ever since TN switched plates the customized ones I’ve seen have quadrupled. People love the black plates like I have. But even just regular TN plates, the amount of personalization plates have gone through the roof….
A regular LS 500 is very rare these days. The hybrid model is exceedingly rare. The LS 500h and LC 500h were sales embarrassments. What a terrible idea both of them were.

This is 100% why I gave up on Volvos post 2004. CANBUS issues will cripple random things with no way to work it through.
GM has caught on to this failure mode and embraced it deeply. Even saw a meme on that recently.
BTW I saw 3 more cars from Knox Co TN the past few days!
I forgot about that.... what is the deal lol..
Notice how the TN blue regular plates are ugly, at least compared to how slick the black ones are. Also your TN county doesn't go on these new plates as you can see.

Yep. Once you go convertible you can never go back. Nothing against coupes, I have always liked 2 door cars. But the wind in your hair, loud music, getting tan, V8 rumbling, exhaust rumbling... driving around a nice convertible is absolutely positively therapeutic. 95% of the time I take the SL out there is no destination unless you count the gas station for gas or an icee or something. And then just put the top up and you basically have a coupe. I love how the SL buttons right up like a coupe with the top up even though it's a roadster.
