It does. The big domestics look better. GLS and X7 are invisible next to an Escalade, but that's my opinion.
I think you’re overemphasizing the people that care. You also like Escalades so they stick out to you now. I see GLSs and X7s way more than I see Escalades because I like them. I don’t care if a car “looks bigger” or not, if it’s going to make the car less enjoyable for me and a vehicle as big as an Escalade doesn’t work for me.
Oh if Mercedes made a big and bossy SUV people would buy them. G class is too small too, but absolutely has its place.
Has to be enough people. They sell 3k GLSs a month. How many people would buy a larger vehicle who wouldn’t buy a GLS as it is? Not many. 500 a month? Not enough to sustain a model.
The first GL class was more like I was talking about, in your face and butch. I remember the V8 version had a hugggge star exclusive to that trim.
That vehicle is smaller lol. Your issue is styling not physical size.
Maybe, but I doubt they care. Profit margins are absolutely ridiculous on the big BOFs.

I see what I see, I don't see imaginary trucks because I like the models. I was behind an X7 40 today.

Those are just ok numbers. I just think if they offered something Escalade size and presence wise they might sell more.

I said it appears larger, just like it looks way better and more in your face. Please don't tell me what my issue is. The current GLS is way too wimpy looking for my tastes. Plus you're stuck with hybrid stuff on everything but the V12.

What people individually prefer stands out to them lol

They only sell 3-4k Escalades a month...

You're literally agreeing with me. Your issue is the styling. "Looks way better", "too wimpy looking"...
For you the Escalade is the better choice, for me its the GLS. Thats okay!
Escalade is probably more noticeable because it is relatively rare, and it's probably the only Cadillac that still even sells in any significant numbers, and it looks very distinct compared to the rest of Cadillacs lineup. On the other hand the X7 and GLS look just like bigger X5/3 and GLE/GLC, and they are very popular, and just blend in with countless other BMW/MBs on the road.

Asking Mercedes to make a bof platform thats not derivative of the G class is a big ask. Just modifying the last gen g class resulted in quality issues with front suspension when used in high demand areas like the GCC.

Bigger GLS maybe.
Just doesn't make sense for them to do that. GM gets a ton of use out of that platform, pickups, all the SUVs. If GM could only use it for the Escalade they wouldn't make the Escalade.

Only 6 inches longer, but much taller with much larger step in height because of the BOF, 6 inches taller. For us that additional cargo space isn't worth the tradeoffs that brings in day to day use, worrying about height in parking garages, climbing up into it, the ponderous road feel, much lower fuel economy and difficulty parking...
Now the Chevy Traverse has almost the same cargo space as the Yukon/Escalade in a unibody much easier to manage package...but the 4 cyl kills that for us.

Watch this video, it's interesting. And read comments. Most of them are praising the Escalade for how big and bad *** it is.... one of the main reasons I love it so much.
It comes down to personal taste but that MB is just boring here, especially next to that red Escalade sport.
I'm not shopping for badass, I'm hauling a family around lol. I want space for trips that fits in my garage and that my wife is comfortable driving, while also being luxurious and enjoyable for me to have in the garage and also drive. Thats not the Escalade.
They are right about the suspension in the GLS, it needs to be in Sport mode, Comfort is way too wallowy. That car has the 22s also, I would get the 21s. It doesn't ride like an S Class, or a Range Rover, but they ride nice. I would code it to start in Individual like I have my S Class and I would leave it in Sport suspension all the time.

The Escalade is far too polarizing, people either love them or hate them. And its got a reputation of being associated with certain stenotypes, which is shame as the latest Escalade is nice and classy on the inside. If only they toned down the exterior styling.

Very true. Same thing with say a Range Rover.
My cousin for instance if I mention wanting an Escalade or Range Rover he cringes at the whole rapper, "Kardashian" thing.

Range Rover is a relatively new phenomenon I think. Not that long ago nobody cared about Range Rovers, they had a reputation for being unreliable junk, changing ownership, often using engines and parts from other manufacturers. Now, all of a sudden its all the rage with wealthy house wives.
There is a Syrian Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn, they are all very wealthy and they dont buy German cars. All their women use to drive GX and LX, now they are all driving Range Rovers.
