Pretty sure i must have put some bad energy out to the universe at some point. I bought a diesel, and fuel was $3.15. 2 wks and a bit later, diesel is knocking on the $5/gal mark here in NTX. Yeesh. It may not sound like alot, but when you buy 40+ gallons at a time, it smarts a bit. Thankfully I get 700+mi out of the tank. Have touched 1000miles on a trip already last week, and it only took 38 gallons that time lol.

Oil is back down to $77 a barrel. Trump was right, it was temporary.. Not being political, just stating facts. The gas stations haven't caught up with the lower barrel prices yet but it shouldn't be long.

I really hope it continues as planned, funny part is my idea earlier of just offering to cover damage and escort is exactly what ended up getting things moving again lol!

Oh we all know how that game is played. Prices at the pump rise within 6 hours of oil increasing, and take 6 weeks to drift back down when oil decreases.

Ours is +38 cents for premium. I paid $4.08 on the 2nd, and it's $4.46 today.

I either dreamed it or read/saw something about the US escort again. Maybe the insurance is higher, but doable. A USA military escort is the safest in the world lol. There would be battleships (or whatever they're technically called) surrounding said ships lol. I'd say they have anti-miissle tech that could protect the big ships.

Except for the part where that never actually happened, of course. Sec of Energy Chris Wright posted that it had, price dropped 10%. “Interested parties” closed their shorts, the post was removed and the WH issued an official denial, and the price immediately shot back up 12%.

Last I heard was the press conference where they said they would be escorting and insuring ships so I was going off that.
Ship going through the strait got hit last night. Drop was definitely temporary
3 got hit, one very seriously. The Thai-flagged Mayuree Naree was struck twice:
3 crew are missing, presumed to be trapped in the now-inaccessible engine compartment.
I don't expect wicked price spikes in the short term. Japan has already started releasing some of its strategic reserves. The IEA has announced it will be releasing 400 million barrels, its largest such release in history. And we are considering tapping our own. That will moderate the price shock somewhat, at least for a time.
As the chart displays, oil is currently at or lower that it had been from early Jan 22 through most of that year, and kept hitting same levels through mid 2024. Oil price panic among the usual media suspects and mindless followers is priceless.
