When you say you're "all Erie", did you used to have USAA for homeowner's ins?
I ask because we have everything under USAA -- cars, home, etc. But we've also never made a claim on our home(s), so have never needed to switch or have gotten dropped.
I've heard horror stories of USAA members randomly getting dropped after making an auto claim. We were so afraid to get dropped last year as we had to make 2 claims -- one for someone trying to steal or break into our kiddo's car on college campus -- that was over $3k worth of damage but thank God they weren't successful, and the other time when kiddo rear-ended someone. Ugh. We don't know what the payout was for the other driver's car to get fixed. We were going to pay out of pocket to fix the other driver's car and not put in another claim because of the first one, but the garage that fixed the car ONLY went thru insurance companies. Thankfully, USAA didn't drop us and I don't think our ins increased. We've added another car last year so if it did, it was minimal.
No I didn't ever have anything else, I went in via the family agent for everything other than cars so I'm a subset of the main policy.
I'm talking about over time though, I thought I remembered you talking about more claims. Wasn't there also some argument about the front bumper of your SL?
The amount of money doesn't matter, they were two at fault collision claims...thats bad news for insurance. Insurance is all about risk, and having any collision claims is bad and multiple within a close timeframe is even worse. As an example I have never had ANY collision claims in my life (knock on wood), and my wife has only had one. Now, I have bumped my cars into things over the years and had to repair them but I paid for that out of pocket because I didn't want the claim.
I would highly recommend though that you resist filing a claim against your Progressive policy. I really do think you will get a big increase at your first renewal and you may need to shop again.
2 claims total, and yes I forgot…. My old insurance denied that claim saying it was wear and tear which was horse ****. Good memory, I completely forgot about that bc of the unexpected medical trauma. HOWEVER, this was after I knew they were gonna drop me so I wanted to milk everything I could first, **** them. Insurance companies and banks are the worst.
My spouse and friend just had painted both front bumpers out of pocket while I was in the hospital, it was only a little over 2 grand and the result is spectacular, I took it to Mercedes collision where all the best cars go.
If they raise me in 6 months I’ll report here, I’m sure it will be fine. There are zero points or tickets in my driving record currently and I had two small claims now 3 years ago. That’s hardly a terrible risk.
To be fair I've tested my insurance exactly zero times though so I have no idea how they actually are lol!
Yep Erie also does all our business insurance. They are excellent. I actually got them because the guy who rear ended my LS460L (remember the 16 year old with the lifted Jeep and the winch?) had Erie and they were incredible. My shop said they were the best to deal with and they even gave me diminished value with no questions asked on a leased car! I got the coverage through that guy's agent and everything.

Remember, you said your previous insurance wouldn't drop you too
I did, but again… 2 lousy cheap claims from 3 and 4 years ago with a 100% clean driving record….
It doesn’t add up, again even the powers that be at Safeco said they didn’t understand it but it was up to some different department blah blah blah, I’m paying $230 less per month. .

You know I actually forgot that when my immediate family was in that severe crash that Eire covered it zero questions asked. Other dumbass who blew the stop sign and ran didn't have insurance or anything, no rate change on our end

It makes total sense, you have claims so they dropped you vs people who have none. It's an automated system and you have more risk than an otherwise identical person who never had claims.
Literal simple math unfortunately, that or price must go up but in their eyes they are entitled to money for just existing so as so as they have to pay out at all you are deemed not worth it vs something who won't claim.

They are really good. I will actually pay a reasonable premium to stay with them.
When I switched from Progressive they offered me the same rate they had offered me the year before when Progressive had increased my premium $1,000 a year. It renewed this year with a very small increase. Did take a increase on homeowners but everybody is right now.

Right, its all done by the risk profile...no person looks at it and says "drop 'em", its done by the automated system
USAA tends to have decent car insurance rates, but their homeowners rates are terrible. Its interesting because often USAA customers are very loyal and they look at their USAA policy as something they earned with their service and its very hard to even get them to price shop it when I know the quote they got was terrible.
