Doesn't matter too much as you aren't moving too far in traffic, 7 mpg but you went 5 miles in an hour means you didn't use nearly any fuel. Way less actual use than 30 mpg going 40 miles
All I see on those forums are coolant leak and coolant tank cracking and oil burning and Guibo(I don't even know wth this is) cracking.
It's the technical name for the driveshaft to diff/trans interface disks, they are made of rubber to stop any vibration but in powerful cars they get shredded.
Some brands avoid this by using a slip sleeve attachment with external damping ring but BMW is not one of them
Heavy slow moving traffic and that V8 is going to gulp fuel.
I've owned many V8 sedans, modern turbo V8s are very efficient even in slow moving traffic. A NA V8 like what he's used to is much harder on fuel in those situations. I have never seen less than 17 or 18 in either of my Mercedes.
Still a V8, inline 6s just don’t excite me. Driving them back to back in the same model I just prefer the way the V8 feels
Actually wouldn’t want a Panamera or a GT3
Not all V8s are made equal.
I much rather have 6cyl engines like 2JZ, S55 like my M3 has or B58, 4.0 Flat 6 from GT3 over 99% of V8s.
Ford for example makes a great V8 - Coyote.
The MB 4.0 V8 TT is also great.
5.0 V8 from Lexus is a special engine.
Most other V8s from non-exotic brands are not that great or exciting.
For Porsche - i was referring to the engines, V8 in Panamera vs flat 6 in GT3 since you feel V8s are superior 😂

Well duh, the best thing you can do to a 911 is to LS swap it lol!
The guibo failure is not super uncommon on BMW's. According to service records, my car had it replaced before I bought it. Usually I think it only fails once.
Coolant leaks are a common BMW trait. For the B58 there is an updated coolant expansion tank that should remedy the issue. I'm not sure when it made it into cars from the factory. Mine had it replaced under warranty with the updated part like 6 months before I bought it. So far no issues.
An M550i should be perfectly fine for the length of time that Steve keeps his cars, especially as he leases them brand new.
I'd probably be driving one if I wasn't concerned about out of warranty reliability, since I buy my cars used.

Comparing the Panamera to a GT3 V8 vs 6 doesn't make sense they're too different. I wouldn't choose a Panamera over a GT3 because of the V8, but I would choose the V8 over the 6 in a Panamera.
Like I said, I have never driven a car in both a 6 and a V8 where I wouldn't rather have the V8, and that includes BMWs with the B58. X7, 7 Series etc I have driven both back to back and after driving the V8 thats what I would choose. Same with the S500 vs the S580, GLS450 vs the GLS580. The 6 is fine but the V8 elevates all of them. I don't choose cars for their engines I choose the car I want and then choose the engine I want.
The only thing in the X7 that would tip me towards the 6 is that you have to get the M Sport exterior in the V8...and I prefer the luxury line exterior. Honestly that would probably just make me get a GLS580.
Just want to thanks everyone for your inputs.
In the end, I went back and searched for a 2016-2017 LS460 and found a 2017 LS460 AWD midnight edition with just 30k miles with clean history and very well serviced. The previous owner did oil/filter change every 6 months even though he only drives the car for 800-1000miles.
To me, the LS460 fits like a glove and I didn’t really have to compromise on anything. The MPG is not that great but I’m accustomed to it. I’m also accustomed to the maintenance and the cost involved. It’s also a lot more affordable than the certified 2022 540i and especially the 2022 m550 that I was looking at. It drives like new. I’m very happy with this find and purchase.

WOW -- I can't believe you found this LS and with such low mileage -- love the color combo!!
I guess patient persistence really pays off and these rare finds do pop up once in a while...
Just curious, and if you don't mind sharing -- did you find the LS at a dealership or private party?
