If you're a real car enthusiast, once you get behind the wheel of B58 engine you forget about all other options you might need. Just kidding
Haha. I got into the ‘24 M340 and thought to myself where the eff is the steering wheel adjustment control. Then realized, ahhh, it’s manual adjustment. On a 70k car!!
But then again, that m340 has power trunk and my $110k LC500 trunk has to be slammed shut.
Found a couple 540i with executive and luxury package that I will take a look.

The power trunk on our 330i broke after about 3,000 miles and had to be repaired. To be fair, it still worked over 13,000 miles later, though. Maybe it was a defective part from the factory?
Yeah it is a pros and cons game with these cars. For example, the IS 500 has a power-adjusting steering column, but that's not even available on the M340i. The IS 500 has a rear sunshade, but that's not available on M340i either. However, the M340i has wireless CarPlay/Android Auto and actual USB-C ports. It also has stuff like cornering lights and arguably much smarter automatic high beams, along with a sharper infortainment display. It just depends on what you value. I valued the V-8 and the Lexus reliability over the other stuff.

Completely unacceptable on a $70k car.
Should be fully loaded for that price! 🫸🫷
I didn't even realize the IS 500 came with power adjust steering when I first got it. All I cared about was the V8. If it was manual adjust I would have been fine with that.

I'm totally ok with a function I will only use one time in a car's life not being power. The steering wheel on my E90 has been in exactly the same position for 14 years and counting.
I'm working on getting a 540i. Debating whether I want a very lightly optioned low mileage one(<5k miles) or fully loaded with 25k miles. I'm a little concerned with fully loaded options and features that will break and have issues. Massage seats, power rear window shades, adaptive LED, soft closed doors, etc.
how long do you intend to keep the car?
on a 5k mi. car, how much are you actually 'saving' vs. just getting a new one? i could never see buying a used car as saving anything, yeah it's cheaper outlay, but the lower price is coming from the mileage and wear and tear of course.
anyway best of luck!

thanks for that. i guess it's called an 'executive package' because 'executives' can 'impress' their passengers with the features.

i've always felt powered steering wheel controls were a waste of money. i mean how often do people adjust the steering wheel?

no IS (until i think some special edition this year ?) has come with power folding mirrors though which is unforgivable to me.
I like the wheels auto retracting but generally never change the actual setting on MY cars. Shared ones are manual adjust ironically enough and are constantly adjusted

On a 5k mile car you're probably right. I bought my 540i with 47k miles on it, and I paid less than half of the original price when it was new. I'm going to get more than half of the life of the car out of it. To me it just made sense. Saved a lot of money while also avoiding some of the things I didn't care for in the later G30's(the stupid cluster, COVID era manufacturing, locked ECU, etc)
2004, 2021 and 2025 Toyota 4Runner entering the thread.
I am against the motorized steering columns as I look for the longer term reliability for the feature. My 04 has separate tilt and telescoping controls, both with metal parts. My 21 has one control to do both. New 2025 has added a power tilt and telescoping mechanism, a solution to a problem I hade never had. if I could pay extra to not have it, I would pay it
