General Car Conversation 2025 - Part 1
Uggghhhhh. Incompetence.
My plan is to ask to talk to the manager on Monday and approach it as "I think my car was nudged" not "someone messed up my car" and then kindly ask if they have surveillance in there. What do you guys think of that strategy? I'll don't want to accuse them, at first at least.
I'm virtually positive this wasn't there. The car is NEVER driven and parked anywhere, I can't remember the last time. It's just driven around for drive through errands and pleasure.
I don't want to deal with this..... ugh. But that wasn't there. I can say the sensor is acting up (it's not...yet). The thing is, some employee did this and kept their mouth shut. If he had told someone it would have been addressed. This is a reputable place I've trusted for decades. I don't anticipate a hard fight but nevertheless this sounds as fun as a root canal to deal with.
And no, I haven't been refunded money for the alignment that Toyota in Rochester couldn't do on a simple BOF ladder frame truck, either. I have to get into corporate for that.
Ugh..
Would my insurance deal with it by chance and deal with THEIR insurance if I called them and just explained this? I've heard of that. I don't want to and am not filing a claim, I've had too many and my insurance ain't cheap anymore.
Pretty sure that whole bumper will have to be replaced because of the parking sensor, it's already been replaced once and those sensors are $800 a piece. I'm guessing that would cost about 5-7 grand these days.

Waiting until Monday I’m assuming they are closed for the day/weekend? Would you happen to have a video of your car parked/leaving your home the day you took it to the shop and also a video of you arriving back at home after the visit to the shop?
Ugh, changing oil today on the F-150. Been 12 months and 3,000ish miles since the last one, which I let the Ford dealership do while I had it in for a coolant flush and plugs. They really tightened the oil filter hard. My filter wrench is just spinning around it. The way Ford placed these, you can't really get at it with a strap wrench or the old hammer and screwdriver trick either. So now i've got a truck sitting in my driveway with the oil drained and can't change the filter.
Going to hop in the car and run to home depot and get a better wrench I guess.

$5-7k might total the car.
This is why I bring in tires loose, and take pictures to be sure. I once had a tire shop leave blue painters tape I had on the wheel edges to prevent damage. They mounted all 4 like that. WTF. And one was mounted backwards.
I think you meant tire shop. (typo?)
When you say "backwards", did you mean with unidirectional tires? Or with different tire-sizes, front and rear, on the wrong ends of the car?

It became a fire shop after he found out what they did.
Ran to harbor freight and got a 3 jaw adjustable wrench. Got that stubborn filter off and a new one on. Truck is good to go for another year.

Sometimes a too-tight filter (or similiar device) can be unscrewed a little easier by heating it up....say, with a hair-drier. That will make it expand, along with the screw-threads, and not fit so tightly.
They were Pirellis and marked outside on the sidewall. It was pretty obvious they were backwards. Of course we were traveling the next day and the shop was closed so I had to have the dealer dismount them all and remount them. My shop refunded the improper install of course.

From a former valet attendant, take pics/videos before and walk around your vehicle after taking delivery.
