If a engine can do 1,000 hp with tunes and upgrades, I have to believe it's a "half a million miles capable engine" when just running low effort duty and neutered a little and no tune.
....and maintenance. Case in point, this 415,000 mile 2JZ:
It was torn down because some of the parts (like the oil pan) are worth significantly more than a perfectly running engine (which this one was) with almost a half-million miles. There's definitely evidence of wear, but it looks like it could have easily gone 50% more miles without major issue.
The S58 (and to a lesser extent from a power perspective, the B58) is the modern equivalent. Take care of it and it'll run damn near forever.
i don't really know enough about engine tuning to prove or disprove either of you lol, but with regard to the R8 V10 specifically i do know that to be true! this one is making 1800hp at the crank:

Exactly, just don't be stupid and let little things kill an otherwise great engine.

Honestly I've been fighting buying at least a drivers all weather mat for the D4/12 and I know the second I do it won't snow again. I've been beating my shoes and using covers this whole winter....
I had put the OEM mats back in (I have lloyd luxe high pile aftermarket mats), but you really do need rubber mats when it gets like this. I much prefer carpet mats but it is what it is.

You are probably smarter than me in just accepting it and using the all seasons....I stubbornly suffer haha!

I'm not sure if they're the same for the D4, but for our 4M, the OE Audi all-weather mats are really thick and heavy rubber, very nicely made. They're not a "drop-in" tray like the 3DMaxpider, TuxMat or weathertech, so they're slightly less protective, but they do feel luxury-ish for something that you're supposed to get mud and salt on.

Factory are these thinish plastic things, I have them in the 4.0 and are solidly "meh". You can tell they want you to run the carpeted ones or the exclusive ones.

That's too bad. I think our full set of 4 mats weighs about 25 lbs.
