[QUOTE=bitkahuna;11839863]stories we tell ourselves. i find my ev much simpler and WAY more convenient. i HATE going to stinky skanky gas stations.

respectfully, your rav phev electric range is tiny so not relevant relative to a BEV. and unless one charges only every few days or otherwise gets the battery really low and forgets to charge, and has a lot of miles to do the next day, then it really isn't an issue. and one can put an evening reminder on their phone or watch to recharge. or if one lives not far from a DC charging station again, not an issue. my car at home charges about 10% or 25mi. per hour. i can check the level from the phone so can do so when i wake up if i want or am concerned i might have forgotten to plug in, and if low i can charge until i have to leave the house.

just wondering, why?

We rented a Model 3 while at Disney world. Her and her friend (e-tron owner) went out shopping in the model 3. She simply stated she didn’t like it.

guess she doesn't like a quiet smooth ride. if it's the center screen, should feel right at home with the prius.
Today we were out running errands in the Supra and had an impromptu moment to take a roadtrip. Grabbed a phone charger from the store we were in, gassed up, grabbed some chick fil A then hit the road. Now let’s imagine if we were in an EV and we didn’t charge up the night before but only had enough charge to runs errands to get back home. We only have Tesla chargers in town.

She doesn’t even have the Toyota app on her phone to see how much charge the Rav has. She just knows whether it has EV range or not, there’s some gas in it so she will make it to wherever she needs to go at that moment. Charger used to be on a schedule but now I have it set to soon as it’s plugged in it starts charging. Just need her to plug it in. I’ve told my daughter to go in the garage and plug in because I think mommy forgot.

Our 3rd gen Prius has Apple CarPlay 😁 Prius sees more off road than my truck. 🫣🤣

Honestly I would buy/drive an EV before she ever would. On our roadtrip today we were passing a 3 or Y and I mentioned imagine if we were in an EV and she responded “you would be on this trip alone and I would be at home.” Idk maybe I’m married to @AJT123 🤣🤣🤣

Hahahaha. I don't hate EVs. I can say however that on a trip it would be a no-go.

I get anxious sometimes even looking for gas stations when out of town... I couldn't imagine charging.

What kind of "impromptu road trip" is this and how far away is it? You went on this roadtrip with no change of clothes or toothbrush or anything like that?

I can say that outside of getting notification that family members have died, are dying, or have been rushed to the hospital I have never had a need to take a roadtrip occur while I'm out running errands.

I know what I would do in those situations though if I were out in an EV...I would run home and get in the other car. I'm going to need clothes etc anyways.

Point is a lot of the reasons not to get an EV are in our heads.

Other than a family member dying, I've never taken a spontaneous road trip. Lol

I don't drive for fun.
All business, no time to play...

It was 200 miles one way. We did a turnaround. We went shopping and also to look at another B58😏

Completely spontaneous. Car has a wireless charger, we grabbed a cable and the store we were in just in case. Other than that, chick fil A and some gas and we were on the road.

LOL - stop at a Wawa or supermarket with fast chargers, shop for 20 minutes to buy some snacks, and come out to an 80% charged vehicle....

My rural hometown only has one charging location and the 3 spots are always occupied.

Tons of gas stations though. Takes me 10 minutes tops to get gas when i visit.

Since this is Car Chat, I'll refrain from expressing how much easier it's been owning both Tesla's, our Ioniq 5 and my previous Polestar, how I've done several spontaneous trips starting with a low SoC, and how using Tesla superchargers is way, way easier than gassing up

Back to ICE. B58/S58 has to be one of my favorite engines! I've stated this several times in EV chat, if I ever went back, I would probably have an M2 as a daily. When I eventually have an empty nest, who knows

There’s eight 150kw Tesla chargers in my area and I wouldn’t stop there at night!!

Why? My last trip to Santa Barbara, I stopped at Tesla chargers off the 101 freeway at 1am. No pan handlers, no people with gas cans saying their cars ran out of gas. Safer than any gas station. Plus I would assume your state is a carry state, so problem solved

So...you were leaving on your "impromptu" 3.5 hour each way road trip to see a BMW .... at night?

Its just not a good area to be in honestly. Here are a few reviews about it.
