most satisfying vs most reliable (2024)
Its not something you do all the time, using it as a reason why you can't handle having an EV is whats silly. Sure if I were in the market for a car and there was one 200 miles away I seriously would consider buying I would make that drive.
Its the whole "what if I want to get in the car and drive across the country?" argument...yeah but you never do that. When you go out for a walk around your neighborhood to you wear hiking boots, bring a walking stick and pack a camelback full of water in case you decide to take a 7 mile hike while you're out? No lol
Thats how its being presented to us.

Its silly, especially when you own multiple cars. "What if I'm out in my EV buying ice cream and then decide hey, I want to drive to Wyoming right now?" Well, you would drive home and get in a gas car and drive to Wyoming lol
Just like if I'm in my sedan and I see a chair I want to buy I don't say "man thats why I should drive a huge SUV everywhere I go in case I find a chair I want", I go home and get my minivan and come back and get my chair.

Just like I may wake up wanting a Supra. So I’ll start researching them learning more about them then make my final decision on it. The dealership I bought my Supra at is 300 miles away. I found it, negotiated and settled on price the night before. I already had plans that same weekend about an hour from where I bought the car. Picked up a U-Haul trailer and trailered it home.
After coming from Disney, ordered/put deposit on a RAV4 Hybrid. Learned about the RAV4 prime maybe 1-2 wks later while waiting on the Rav Hybrid to be built and come in. So then was on the hunt for a Prime. Found an unallocated one 3.5hrs away that was about to going into build phase. Put the deposit on it while in bathroom at work. 🤣🫣 Both hybrid and Prime were at the same port at same time. 2 days after taking delivery of the Rav hybrid, drove down with U-Haul trailer to pick up the Prime turned around and trailered it back home.
Bought my track car 240 miles away. Trailered it home. Bought my 1st Tundra 4hrs away. Did a same day turnaround. Bought the 2nd tundra 950 miles away. Flew in. Drove it back.
What can I say, sometimes I wake up feeling dangerous or wreckless. However you slice it.
🫣 I personally don’t mind traveling to find a good to me deal.
Do you buy a car every day? Even if you have done that 4 times making a car purchase decision based on the fact that you may do something like that a few times in your life is unusual and IMO doesn't make a lot of logical sense. Thats my point.
You would be a great candidate for an EV because you have multiple other cars. I don't really understand your resistance to one given that you like driving your PHEV in EV mode. "I just don't want one" is a perfectly valid reason, the trying to explain why you couldn't have one just doesn't make sense.

I don’t daily the Rav anymore. My wife does now although it’s now on the chopping block to be replaced by an X7. I showed her a MDX Type S today. While she said it was nice, she isn’t interested in owning one. Supra is my nice weather daily although I do rotate between vehicles. I drove the truck to church today. I’m sitting outside at ballet 🩰 practice in the Prius. But yes you’re right, about 75-80% of the Rav PHEV miles I would guess are electric. Theres no gauge.
Far as EV goes, I tried to cross that bridge prior to getting the PHEV. If wife would’ve said she liked the Model 3 we had a Disney, I probably would’ve have dug a little deeper into EVs but she wasn’t a fan. It’s a little easier selling my wife on vehicles that she could see herself enjoying as well although there’s a strong chance I may be behind the wheel of it majority of the time. EVs are the future right. We have time to entertain those when the right one comes along. For now, Supra is our day date, date night/road trip no kids vehicle.
Back to thread topic, it kinda worries me to feel like going from what I consider is a dead reliable Toyota PHEV to a German vehicle. 😥😬 That plus the resale of Toyota/Lexus vs German vehicles or BMW in this case. 🫣
Absolutely. Then just say "EVs aren't for me" and leave it at that, instead of some 1-off story about how EVs won't work for his lifestyle. EVs aren't for everyone, and no one is arguing they are. No need to make a fake excuse to justify not getting one.
Yep, thats exactly what I'm saying. The reality is an EV would work, but he just doesn't want one. Which is fine.
I could try to sell her on an EV not having to buy gas, electricity cheaper than gas and bypassing a gas station. But this is the same woman I told hey our electric bill was $500. Her response was it’s hot outside and it feels good in the house.
🤣Next time I will rent something other than Tesla. I had a chance to rent a Kia EV but my friend suggested the charging situation would be a lot better renting a tesla so tesla again it was. FSD all around Vegas FTW!!
My wife drives too much to lease. I rotate vehicles daily. She won’t. She doesn’t want the mileage limitations. In 2yrs she put 47k on RX. In 3yrs she put over 54k miles on LX. This all while us having multiple vehicles. She dead locked on the X7. I will admit, it’s very nice!! After she rode in my cousin’s TX, it no longer has a swinging chance. Nothing about it made her want a TX. On the other hand, She loves the X7. It’s X7 or nothing at the moment until we see what tomorrow brings. 🤣
My wife doesn’t want an EV. I have to live with her. Nothing fake about that. 🫣

Speaking of TX, looking at one pull in the parking lot. I’m only interested in the PHEV version of the TX.
Maybe I need to create a signature and put that in my signature, my wife doesn’t want one. 🤣
You don't have to substantiate why you don't want something lol. When you try and claim that somehow you couldn't have one then it opens it up to people arguing with you because in reality, you could have one.
I also would only buy the PHEV version. Not enough substance there otherwise.
@BayeauxLex You now already have a BMW...I mean sorry Supra (🤣 ), get the X7 for Gods sake
It's going to be an upgrade to the RAV4 or whatever it's replacing. I totally, 100 percent forgive you for not wanting to get an EV, so get the damn X7! 😂😂
