Sounds like it has been debunked.

Remember, though.....that was during the Malaise Era, when Detroit was producing some of its worst vehicles in the last half-century. Chrysler products, in particular, had a reputation for poor assembly and cheap materials inside. Ford and GM also cost-cut in a number of areas...particularly in sheet metal and rustproofing.

My Dad had a 87 Fifth Avenue. I was only 8 when he got rid of it but I remember he would never consider a Chrysler after that because of what a POS it was.

The Fifth Avenue of the 1980s was never really meant to be a true luxury sedan. It traces its roots (and platform) to the ordinary Volare/Aspen compacts of 1976...which drove decently (when the carburators and ignition worked right) but were riddled with defects from Day One. But, in those days, Detroit often took the easy and cheap way out, using essentially reworked (and renamed) versions of former compacts to make new downsized versions of their luxury and/or full-size cars. We saw that in a number of products...Lincoln Versailles (Ford Granada), Chrysler Fifth Avenue (Plymouth Volare), Pontiac Bonneville (Pontiac LeMans), Cadillac Cimarron
(Chevy Cavalier), and others.

I know reliability has a different meaning to a lot of people but I’m getting tired of going to the Tesla service center and it is really killing the enjoyment of the car at this point. While it isn’t anything major that would leave you stranded it is annoying to the point that I waited until I had enough issues to aggregate to bring it in. Right now I have a broken parking sensor, passenger airbag sensor error (which they fixed under warranty less than a year ago) and clicking at low speeds when I turn the car. All are know issues and it’s going to cost me well over $1,000 to fix. My wife hates the car at this point and says how much of a POS it is because there is always something wrong with it even though most are fixed with a hard reset.

I would still and may get another but I will definitely lease this time.

Pretty funny LOL. Bill from Curious Cars did one of these a while back. My Dad's was an 87, so it had no airbag but it was this exterior color, light grey interior:

All of the small nagging issues, sounds like a late 1980s General Motors experience.
