Yeah I totally agree. We went to the beach once for the day because my business partner and his family were there, 150 miles each way and that drive back at night after having been on the beach all day, no thanks.

I forget what it was...but I'll find out. Lol, also, I-40 terminates in Barstow. It's the main interstate here, I-40. My father is just quirky like that. Him with the maps before GPS, it was sort of down to an art. He didn't like how maps disappeared and still has them all I'm sure. My Dad with the maps back in the day, I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers lol. I have a map-centric father lol. Also, even without maps and before gps, he just knew/knows his way around seemingly everywhere.

Oh I remember road maps very well. I used them to get around SoCal. I used to also love exploring remote highways that went through mountain passes and lonely desert highways. I knew my way around LA, orange county, the San Gabriel valley etc. Now everyone depends on GPS. My brother in law uses it when he goes to the grocery store. He claims it's in case there's too much traffic Heck, I don't know most people's peoples phone numbers anymore. If I get stuck out somewhere and lose my phone, I'll have a hard time reaching people

Haha. I'm pretty good with directions and getting around, like my father. Drop me anywhere in the LA area and I'd know where I was quickly and where to get wherever.

Believe it or not the simplest thing that some cars don't have---a compass in my display--- helped me learn my way around LA more so than the navigation. It's all just a N-S, E-W grid, mostly.

Ok, but in relation to the initiation of this conversation, you didn't do it on a "whim" when you were already out doing errands for the day.....

We left the house to go to 5 below, Hobby Lobby and Target. Never made it to Hobby Lobby or Target. Grabbed a car charger while in 5 below then drove 200 miles in the opposite direction to go to car dealership and to go shopping.

I'll have to go back and read @BayeauxLex post, but if he was driving out to see a car (I believe he said X7) that he wanted to buy, I wouldn't find that unusual. When I was looking for a Model 3 in inventory, I found a heavily discounted Model 3 Long Range in the Los Angeles area, about 300 miles from me. I would have hopped on a plane and drove it back, but I found a similar vehicle with the same discount only 40 miles from my house. A friend of mine who also lives in the Bay Areas I referred also found a Model 3 LR heavily discounted in the SoCal area and flew down to pick it up. He waited to long and missed some that were closer and had to take delivery by Dec 31st to get the discounts.

Now if he just got in the car and was headed for Target to buy a shirt and than decided on whim to drive 200 miles, that's a different story....

Its not something you do all the time, using it as a reason why you can't handle having an EV is whats silly. Sure if I were in the market for a car and there was one 200 miles away I seriously would consider buying I would make that drive.

Its the whole "what if I want to get in the car and drive across the country?" argument...yeah but you never do that. When you go out for a walk around your neighborhood to you wear hiking boots, bring a walking stick and pack a camelback full of water in case you decide to take a 7 mile hike while you're out? No lol

Now if he just got in the car and was headed for Target to buy a shirt and than decided on whim to drive 200 miles, that's a different story....
Thats how its being presented to us.
