2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD has arrived!
You have to Allow permission for Tesla to be able to access your contacts on your iPhone. On Android, it's through the Bluetooth settings
The way I do it when I'm going to someone who is a contact (and I don't know the address by heart) is before I leave, "Hey Google, Navigate to:" then I select share, and send it to Tesla. When I get to the car, the navigation is already active

Yes, but you have to send it from your phone. If your contact has the address in it, you select the contact, Navigate, then send it to the Tesla app which sends it to the UI. Or you can have it preset. Once you've navigated to an address, it will remember it forever.

I drive to places I have never been all the time for work, but I also drive to places that I go regularly from other places. I also routinely use navigation even when I know where I am going for traffic alerts and re-routing etc.

Or I can tell Siri to "Drive to Ben's house" lol

With CarPlay...I can use Google Maps and whatever maps I want on my big screen...thats my point. I say "Siri, navigate to Ben's house using Google Maps" and it does that on my car's screen and I never have to touch my phone.
They are more concerned about ACP and AA than actual owners. Thanks guys for the concern, I promise, we are totally fine without either AA or ACP 🤣
You are fine. Presumably though Tesla may want to attract buyers that are more difficult to reach, like me and the other people that have mentioned this as a block for them. Design and packaging decisions that create barriers for customers are just silly decisions. Nobody buys a Tesla because it doesn't have CarPlay, but some people absolutely will not buy one because it doesn't. Same with the stalks, removing the stalks doesn't make the car better...and both of you will buy a Tesla with or without stalks...but people like me won't buy one because it doesn't have a turn signal stalk. So why create the barrier?

This response is dumb. I am not exactly concerned if I install something malicious on my phone so I'm happy to be able to download any APK and run it. On my car I'm fairly concerned about this I kinda want it to be free of malware.
Completely different scenarios and you know it, a car has to be a closed system. Also Apple does it not to protect you but to protect their monopoly. Of course you're going to shriek, Tesla does the same thing! Nope, in fact Tesla is far more open than any other auto maker here's one example, free service manual for every Tesla

I don't know of any other auto maker that does this. Try getting technical info for any Apple device.
