At one time I couldn't even conceive of buying a Tesla, thought the 3 interior was a sick joke when I first saw it. I was very wrong about what Tesla's design language. But back to my question. I didn't go around complaining non stop about Tesla I simply couldn't see myself ever owning one.

I will never buy any Apple product can't deal with the closed ecosystem.

I sat in my friends 2018 Model 3, and was actually a joke to me. Nothing but a screen in the front, and a Corolla had better, more comfortable seats. And the ride was harsh, although amazed by the instant torque. But the biggest joke to me was the over $40k price at the time. Model S was much better, but around $120k, no way I would consider that

Original Model S had the most uncomfortable seats ever even Elon admitted this, so if you think the 3 had bad seats....

3 and now the Y are only in their second generation Tesla has made dramatic improvements in 8 years.

Now the Model 3 and Y are mainstream cars more than ready for prime time. I know you don't like that word, but that's what they are. If my wife can get behind the wheel and comfortably drive it, it's mainstream in my book

I don't think most people are going running out and buying aftermarket stalks, as it literally takes a few hours to get used to no stalks. The outcry's that you mostly hear are from non-Tesla owners or owners of pre-refresh Model 3's.

So yes, removing the stalks didn't solve any issues, but it also didn't create any either, IMO of course
And to answer the fact that people were paying aftermarket for CarPlay manufacturers added CarPlay.

I don’t want to have to spend money and install janky aftermarket stuff to make my car like a regular car.

I would like to buy a Tesla. These are the reasons why I won’t. I love the Model S. If the current refresh Model S had stalks and a better ride and was a little more luxurious I could definitely see myself in one. I think it’s one of the best looking car on the road and nobody does an EV as well as Tesla.

Another example of a control interface that disqualifies a car for me is push button gear selectors. Can’t stand them. I also would have a hard time buying a car without CarPlay

This was a 2010. I don't plan to add any aftermarket accessories to the Model 3 except a rear spoiler

If I were to get a Model 3 I would have to add a turn signal stalk. While I was at it I would probably add the gearshift lever too.

No misunderstanding. I didn't want you to think I was a heretic

Can Apple CarPlay be added to Tesla UI? If no, Tesla UI seems like a closed ecosystem like you consider Apple to be.

I’m with SW17, I gotta have my Apple CarPlay. Once I got a taste of it in a rental, I put it in every vehicle we had. Even my 3rd gen Prius has it. I also really like the Model S especially in black with black wheels. One of the sexiest cars on the road imo!!

I don't need to install all manner of applications on my car, with a smartphone I do. As for Apple CarPlay it's for people that don't own a Tesla, you need it because the UI on your car sucks. Just my opinion.

The answer is no, and speaking as a Tesla owner myself, you don't need it, and you won't even miss it. I used to feel the same way about Android Auto, I 100 percent had to have it, where I spent $500 to add it to my IS350. Now I absolutely don't need it because Tesla has everything built in already. Just my opinion
